350z Side Exhaust???

Hey guys, any idea what the sound may be like with a side exhaust on a 04 350z?? The exhaust would exit roughly behind the front tires on both sides…also would there be any power gains or loss? Cheers!

There’d be some awesome ticket gains. As for power, it depends on exhaust piping diameter, as well as additional mods.

would the sound be tolerable? im not looking for a raspy garbage sound…any idea on what it would be? or a rough guess? cheers

Don’t do it on a stock 350. If you’re running massive turbos and want to spew fire out the sides, then hell yea, but otherwise…

what’s the point…just leave it as is…

unless you have this car…

It’ll be raspy as hell. Don’t do it. My Injen with test pipes is loud and raspy enough as it is.

^agreed, dont do it…

there are long tube style resonators with bend “points” a 90 degree in that cars kinda space would be almost impossible
BUT
there are 90 degree cats and “T” style cats and a lot of other interesting stuff out there let alone custom made…
why not ven out the sides in front of the rear tires?
2" tall and 12" wide tapered tip isnt too hard to fab up…
hmmm

i wish i recorded my car when we started it up without any exhausts on…honestly…it sounded freaking hot…haha ask terry…i couldnt stop giggling when we started it…i was also happy at the fact that my car hadnt been started in a week

I’m pretty sure side-pipes are an HTA infraction unless originally offered from the manufacturer… not absolutely sure though… vague memories of a conversation regarding this topic with someone.

my road runner and countless corvettes have them.
you need to have cert’d mufflers i think.

otherwise nobody gets stopped for it…so i think maybe not hta infraction.
you will however be looked at for etest so keep the cat installed etc too.

Like the other member says…unless you have a huge turbo, you wont see any substancial power gain. Not to mention the lack of back pressure and loud as hell. But if you have a turbo and a crazy Looking body kit to back it up, I would say Go for it.
