3rd gen camaro or 99 LS1??

Ok I am having a hard time understanding how the 4th gen is heavier than the 3rd gen

3rd Gen Z28 specs
L:192.6" W:72.8" H: 50.4"
Weight: 3,300 lbs

4th Gen
L:193.5" W:74.1" H:51.2"
Weight: 3,440 Lbs

Thats 140 lbs difference…which isnt much but I would think the 4th gen would be lighter considering the alum block and lighter body materials. Can someone please explain why considering they still are basically the same size?

100lbs is huge on a road race course.
