Haha wow, I wasn’t even there and I can picture the scenario. Ran into it in my motorcycle days all the damn time. Kids with something to prove. Big drives like this need rules. By big I mean more than, say, 3-5 cars. There has to be a set leader, one who knows the road and leads the way. Also this set leader would be responsible for something like recognizing (or being alerted to via walky talky) asshat maneuvering, and stopping the drive and informing the offenders that they need to leave. Period. When thousands of pounds of metal are being maneuvered at extra-legal speeds fooling around cannot be tolerated. Also, as far as spacing goes for the love of God maintain safe space cushioning. When finally out cruising safely, keep the car behind you within sight. That is your only responsibility, not the car in front of you. He is watching for you. That way if someone has trouble for whatever reason they do not get stranded.
Granted, this is all shit I learned from bike rides so I cannot say for sure if this will apply to a car drive the likes of which I have never been on, but it seems logical. If I had been there and had been endangered by a retard multiple times I would have left the drive.

yeah, after i got rear ended last year, im so scared of it happening to me or me doing it to some1. and when i got hit was was like at 35 mph i cant evne immagine at high speeds.
this is all y i am serriously considering getting out of the ‘big dog fast car’ game. after going on that cruise (i was with the back road group) i learned that there is a lot more to motoring that going fast in a stright line. besides the fact that the sceanery was amazing and it’s always something different, all the people were really cool, no assclowns, and every1 had respect for each other.
speaking of leaving a lot of room between you and the car in front of you…
i was a little peeved by the blue STi on the cruise…seemed like a cool guy, but he asked to get by me since i have no power steering, balding front tires, and am too paranoid to really push hard around roads i’ve never been on in my life…so i waited for the opportunity, and when the road was straight and somewhat clear, i pulled over a bit, threw on the blinker, and let him pass…that was cool, but what wasn’t cool is the constant riding of my ass that took place the entire time before that…it was ridiculous…
then once he passed me, he got right on tom’s (tkklemann) ass…constantly flying up to tom, then hitting the brakes…many many times, dude…it’s a fun cruise, not a pro rally event…take it easy…we all wanna have fun, and to do so we should have at least a 5 car length minimum requirement between cars…because 9 out of 10 of us dont know where the hell we are or what’s around every turn, so i think 5 cars is not asking too much when we’re going 70+ through backroad blind turns…
and what sucked the most is the fact that right when i got the sti off my ass, i had a silver jetta with CF hood on my ass…dude, calm down…next time i’ll happily being up the rear with chris in the cobalt to avoid all the ass riding if that’s how it’s gonna be from now on…
The thing is you never know what’s around a blind curve/hill. Goddam deer/dogs/kids/trees/rocks/potholes/cars overrunning the curve into your lane… I know I don’t have to tell you this, but just mentioning it. I’ll be joining one of these cruises sooner or later (hopefully sooner than later) and want to remind people/speak my mind now. Granted, if they want to play hotshoe speed racer and fuck up and buy me a new Jetta (well E36 M3 will be my next ride, but whatever), then that’s cool but if I get hurt the gloves are coming off!

the bowling ball today is i’d say at least 40 to 50% of the score you provide…given you know how to use the ball to it’s full potential…half the pros wouldn’t be as good as they are without their equipment (though they’d still be damn good), and half the shitty equipment throwing bowlers you see at local leagues would be a lot better with a better ball…

If your going to drive like an asshole and endanger someone, ANYONE, ESPECIALLY SOMEONE NOT INVOLVED IN THE GROUP, you need to stop. You need to move on and find some other group to participate in. i could be greatly mistaken, but i don’t think anyone said you couldn’t come out on a crusie. what was said, is that people that act like asshats endangeer not only themselves, but the other people on the cruise as well as innocent motorists on the road.
it is clear (as stated on several accounts) that u were acting like an asshat on this particular cruise and there were several instances where people could have been hurt had it not been for some fast reactions. HOWEVEVER, we are not directly saying that you are no longer welcome on a cruise. we are using u as an example to show that we are not fucking around when we say we don;t want asshats around driving with us. people die in cars. it sucks. the truth hurts sometimes. we’re trying to do everything we possibly can to keep everyone safe and alvie and let all of this go off without a hitch.
truth of the matter is, people get killed in high speed driving (call it street racing if u will) crashes all of the time because they r driving like asshats. its people like you that are putting shit like this on the news somehwere everyday and everytime people see customized cars around they have a bad immage in thier minds.
so after all that, i think its fair to say that you can consider yourself warned. if you come out with us again and you pull this bullshit, you will be asked to leave and possibly not return because u have already been warned once. No one has anything to proove on here, and hell if u have a slower car, people will respect u more if u hang at the back of the pack and let the other people do thier thing rather than trying to jump out front and show off.
like i said, no1 has anything to proove and i think i speak on behalf of a lot of people when i say that respect comes in the form of courtosey, responsibility, and respect for other people, other peoples equiopmenr, the laws and most importantly, other people’s safety.

Ok I took a walk to clear my head a bit and in retrospect I over reacted a bit, This is a problem I have always but with recent life events it has gotten a little worse, I also have a complex where I need to get the last word in on things all the daygos in my family do it funny stuff during the holiday’s and yes it gets me in more trouble than I should be,
As the cruise goes, the more I think about it yes I was driving aggressive, not to show off but to be able to keep up and see what was going on so I could come back here and say “oh yeah that was a good one” and be able to participate. As for driving fast isn’t that why people do it because it is a risk, and risk make life interesting
I am in no way trying to give myself a bad reputation on this forum for being an asshat like the other guy who was on here the whole week. I enjoy coming out to the meets and going on the cruises, and would like to continue to do so, If there is anyone in particular who would like to settle things with a formal apology look for me at the next meet.

I know where you come from when you say slow, thats why I given up on the fact that I can particpate in cruises, so I don’t go on them, unless I can find someone to ride with.
I wasn’t on the fbods cruise so i can’t really speak to what happened there BUT driving fast doesnt nessesarily put you at risk. driving like and idiot does. not taking other people into consideration, cutting them off and acting like and all around douche bag does.
If its an open lane on the thruway or even on major streets theres nothing risky about driving faster then the posted limits as long as its with in reason of your cars capabilities. If you have to tailgate someone to push them up enough to cut the car off in the next lane your being a retard or gunning it down a residential side street, parking lot or road that is open to alot of pedestrian traffic and its shit like that that gives everyone here a bad name.
It’s cool that youre willing to admit fault and it’ll be hard at times to keep up with the pack. you dont have to worry in most cases you still wont miss anything and if you do it’ll prolly be on tape somewhere. so relax you dont need to ride anyones ass to see. the view is just as good the back of the arena and sometimes its a better one…
on a side note I don’t drive fast because its a risk and i want to make life interesting. just being in the moment is enough to make life interesting. take the time to notice the small things in life and you wont need to take life threatening risks but if you do and you want to drive like that i am going to ask you to not drive with me. if you want to make life that much more interesting by putting your life at risk, why not just play russian roulette and spare everyone else’s life around you and if that sounds like a dumb idea then don’t drive like an ass either cause that’s just the same thing on a much larger and wide spread scale. one of these times the chamber is going to be loaded and not only your life but many others may be on your hands. could you really handel the death of some random family of 4 on the way to their sons 7th birthday party? how would that make you feel? I’m sorry, I’m not singling you out on this because this goes for anyone who thinks that way but that comment really disturbs me.
