It’s compressor surge. A ported shroud housing would help him out immensely, surge kills your turbo slowly but surely.

I have only heard a turbo surge when a BOV is mounting improperly.

:anal there are quite a few sr’s with 500ps+ on just 2.0L and same turbo. Newer technology FTW :anal
