'47 ford truck...hotrod

so i forgot to update this…but for those that didnt see on facebook, i got the motor mounts finished and the motor is bolted in…

right now im doing some major reconstruction on a street stock(dirt circle track) but after i get that out of the garage ill be getting back on this. right now is probably a good time to order some parts…and yes the motor will be getting tilted back some, the bottom of the drivetrain will be ~1" above the bottom of the frame at the transmission

bump.

have been working on this lately, taking measurements for designing the rear 4 link and figuring out tire sizes with ride height and such. time to make this thing a roller.

i also decided what im going with for wheel and tire size/style

Images, son, get on it

That chop is perfect, not too low, almost looks the way a factory chop would look.

Any day now! lol

Between resurrecting a dirt track car from the dead with rediculous amount of fab, getting a motor smap in a cutlass finished, work on the s10, and other random fab projects, I’ve had zero time to work on this :frowning: but now its time to work on it again, I gotta get the thing off my chassis table asap so I can get to work building a chassis for a friend’s truck lol

Edit. Picked up some 3/4" hiems and threaded bungs today. Picking up the tubing and plate tomorrow for the 4link bars and brackets

I’m just busting your balls haha you do a lot of good work.

thanks dude, appreciate it.

well after being sick for way too long i finally made it out to the garage. picked up some 3/4" left hand and right hand heims, weld in slugs, jam nuts, cone spacers and some 1.25" .095 wall dom tubing. got the upper link bars welded up, need to get tabs tacked in place with the bars in so i can measure the lowers and make those. i decided im going to do a triangulated 4 link on this, however the uppers will be straight and lowers will be angled in from frame to axle housing. (meeting towards center of axle)

so I haven’t been on here in a while.

Andy (1qikz) was over dropping a few sleds off for me to work on, and while chatting realized I haven’t been on here in a while, as well as that there were a lack of projects in my garage. ha.

so an update for the '47…pretty much as it was last seen on here is where I left off. I had about $2500 total into the project, and did an even trade for a running/driving '50 dodge business coupe. flathead 6, 3 on the tree slushbox with the fluid coupling, sidepipes, etc. I did some work to it cleaning up some of the really hacked crap, slammed it on the ground, then traded it off again as I didn’t want to deal with the rusty underside. fun car, but not right now. the '47 is now in Belfast and the new owner is making it a ratrod with a small block chevy.

meanwhile in the process of this, I also put my frame table to use, doing the minitub on the buffalo motorama project “sinister” chevelle, a '66 chevelle pro touring build, which should finally be at the motorama this coming year. I did the minitub, frame boxing, went over all seams on the frame, and fixed a couple bad spots in the frame. NOTE: I did not weld on the transmission crossmember tabs or rear relocated body mounts. those were done by the painter and I do not want any credit for that part.

the frame:

some welds:

so back to that trade. I traded the '50 straight up for a snowmobile with a shit ton of parts. I know I know, a snowmobile?? well, it was the same year/model as mine, but with a big bore built engine, nitrous, etc. lots of extra parts. 1400 miles on sled, less on the engine.

so then I strart tearing everything apart. putting the engine in my sled, my stock engine in that sled. returned that other sled to 100% stock and sold it, made some changes to the engine before putting in mine, then finished the swap. sold extra parts and had some dyno sessions for building power.

all said and done, I turned $2500 into $10,000 in value. I have a $5,000 engine in my sled, few grand cash in my pocket, and complete skids, tracks, etc for each season of racing…pavement, grass, snow flat & hilldrags.

and the engine makes 230hp/155tq tuned on c12 (without nitrous). 1200 big bore twin two stroke. next phase will be going 2 stroke turbo 1200 to the tune of 4-500hp.

always impressive stuff coming out of your garage

 Keep posting some updates!

Thanks. Aside from a few smaller fab projects I’ve been doing I’ve also started getting into blacksmithing.
