or should i say rip it apart and redo everything? pulled the truck out of storage from winter and drove it about 500 miles or so, then pulled it apart because i was going to change the intake manifold. then i decided to repaint the firewall, then figured while i was at it i would redo all the frame and suspension stuff. soooo, ill skip the before stuff and get right to the newer photos. ill have more updates soon as i plan to make the project go by pretty quick.
for those that don’t know, my truck is a '95 s10. 2000 envoy/jimmy front end, gen1 sbc 355, 5speed from a 2500hd, etc etc. was all stock factory truck when i bought it at 17 almost 5 years ago. originally from alabama.
firewall in primer
firewall painted, framerails primed
framerails done, some reassembly
steering/suspension done except for front shocks. waiting for those to come in. also mounted the line lock, need to plumb that up.
engine/transmission back in. changed out the edlebrock tm-1 tarantula for a holly strip dominator
starting hookin everything back up, air scoop will be replaced with air cleaner when i get the cowl back on.
thanks for the comments, yes the original swap was done a few years back, im just redoing and changing some stuff. the firewall was already smooth, i just made a few adjustments to it and repainted. as for progress, all electrical is hooked up, throttle, fuel all hooked up. exhaust is cleaned painted and up under the truck. headers are cleaned up and got one side bolted up, tomarrow ill get the other one on and get the brakes on. or ill put the fenders on, havent decided. pictures to come tomarrow.
exhaust cleaned up, and a sneak peak at the new wheels. need some work still but theyre foose nitrous 2 piece wheels, 17x8 front and 17x10 rear.
everything except sparkplugs is hooked up, and passenger side header and exhaust bolted up. NOTE: for anyone that is considering or has done a sbc, i reccommend using copper gaskets at the heads, as well as stage 8 locking header bolts. ive been using these for a few years now, and not a single leak or loose bolt.
driver side header and exhaust bolted up
fenders bolted on, usually i do the rad support first but im building a new one
another shot showing how simple things really are on the truck, and you can also see how i routed the wiring to the front of the truck. comes out the side of firewall, runs inside the fender, and comes out the front corner in the rad support so its not seen at all in the engine bay.
^^^no blower yet. just had the scoop on there since i didnt have the cowl hood on. when the cowl goes back on i will be changing it for a regular air cleaner with a filter lid.
anywho, some updated pictures. i didnt get pics of everything thats done though. 90% of the fab work for my rad support is done, so i will have pics of that tomarrow. heres some other stuff though…
rotors and calipers cleaned and painted, mounted. just need to finish the lines:
headlights wetsanded and buffed. im not too good at this so tony (slow01s10) helped me out:
made a new steering shaft, very happy with how this turned out. did clear over the bare metal:
pushed the truck outside to hose it off, and got my temporary wheels mounted up so i can drive the truck until i finish polishing and mounting tires on my foose wheels. thanks to joe for letting me borrow these since his xtreme is now tubbed.
edit: the truck will actually sit about an inch lower in the front after everything is mounted back on.
