eta on this being ready to get some NA runs in at either of the strips?
Not to threadjack but is your project still in the works? Pm me if ya want.
thanks for the comments. as for hp numbers, i dont know. i went to innovative on a dyno day last year but the truck was too low for the dyno and didnt get a chance to go to see pat at spinnas, but soon as its finished ill be giving him a call. as for when it will be done, should be driveable after this weekend. for times at the track, who knows. hopefully fast provided it hooks haha.
anywho, here is where im at. i got everything on to test fit and adjust to see if i need to change anything and well, i need to make some major adjustments. ill explain that with the second photo.
everything on to see what itll look like. fenders and hood lined as good as theyll get, headlights and such need to be adjusted but you get the idea.
and where the big issue is. with everything bolted in and front aligned nice, this is what i end up with. driver side was fine, but the passanger side is way off. THIS IS WHY YOU DONT BUY AFTERMARKET PANELS. STICK TO OEM! i bought the rad support since it was cheap because i figured id be cutting and welding on it anyways, but this here is screwed up. looking at where the sections were placed and spot welded from the factory its clear that it wasent aligned correctly. but ill be fixing this tonight. gonna cut the right side off, bolt it in where it needs to be, then weld in metal as necessary and smooth. more pics to follow late tonight or tomarrow.
looks good. i miss my s10’s
:/:
is it just me or with the grille n one piece lights, does this look like a ford to anyone else?
^^^i think your the only one. its a factory gmc envoy front end except the grill was cut out with a billet insert and the cowl hood lol.
and travis, no worries. shes all fixed now. i can do anything with a cut off wheel flap disc and welder
the rad support is now fixed, everything bolts up nicely and lines up perfectly.
the metal work is 100% done on the rad support. i have probaly 35 hours alone in the fab for this. now to do filler work and paint. if your unsure what is different on this, just take a look at a stock one haha. its one of those things that “its in the details that means most”
bolted in with radiator set in, plenty of clearance and room to grow if i ever need a bigger radiator
update. radiator support is in primer. forgot to take pics but have other pics from on my phone. keep in mind things are a little dirty right now.
roll control plumbed up. also changed the brake lines to copper nickel ones.
cleaned up driveshaft and painted, replaced u-joint. my neighbor showed me how to change em in about 5 minutes with no clamp or anything. didnt realize how easy these were to do lol
moved my chrome cap to the pass side wiper location as the fuel pressure gage wouldnt clear the cowl in this location
made a new bracket to mount the gage on the driver side wiper location. clears hood, may need to get a 45* fitting for the line though. it does rub the hood when open
alright, nother update. truck should be running in another night or so and ready to drive.
my buddy matt welded up an aluminum plate bracket for me. ill take it off at some shows but i figure i should try to be somewhat legal:
one of the front wheels polished up, 2 more are almost done. these are gonna look awesome on the truck:
rad support in primer:
again:
painted:
dash and center console back together, linelock wired up and light and toggle switch for line lock in switch panel. i figure an on/off switch will be easier then a push button with the stick:
front sheetmetal on and tightened down:
front end on, need to adjust headlights and put bulbs in. need to make billet grill for bumper too:
i just like this shot. truck will sit lower with the foose wheels. really need to clean and detail this truck.
this reminds me of when i just recently swapped my 97 s10 front end for a 02 bravada front end! good work, nice and clean. When i do the v8 swap im def gunna get ahold of you. Great work!
^^thanks. feel free to ask questions on the swaps anytime.
rear wheel polished. love the lip on these wheels. defineatly have to run a 295/45 though as a 275/40 is not wide enough and will look stretched.
truck runs. didnt even crank over for a whole second and it fired up the first time. pics later
Congrats!
wow! i had no idea this truck was so badass!
awsome work!
^^^thanks. drove the truck today but need to bleed the brakes a little more, feels like i still have air in the lines somewhere. anywho, heres some pics of the progress…will also be doing a nice cleaning and detailing on everything soon.
discovered my neighbor has a sheetmetal brake, so i made up an aluminum cover for my radiator and then made up some brakets to hold the radiator in. still need to comb the fins from where my alternator belt snapped and flew against it lol
right side with overflow/catchcan mounted, need to wetsand rad support still
left side, you can see at the bottom i used an existing hole in the fender that is no longer used to mount my hood release cable
new air filter…170 bucks for this damn thing. should work well with the cowl though
bracing cut out in bottom of cowl to clear air cleaner. nothing like cutting up a 500 dollar hood haha. i plan to weld in braces around the outside of the filter and weld up squirter holes. i will then be making a sheetmetal panel to cover up the underside of the hood and it will come down around the air cleaner, making the air coming through the cowl to the air filter cool, so there will be no engine heat getting at it. that project will be done this week.
here you can see how much the filter comes up, there is a 1/4" clearance between filter and hood
better shot of the truck in the daylight, still needs a good detailing.
maxie is my gaurd dog. hahaha
still on the to do list for the next week or two:
-bleed brakes again
-wetsand rad support
-make a new fuel gage mount as the one i made im not happy with
-brace hood, weld up squirters, and make panel for cowl
-make stronger mounts for my engine torque brace as the current ones are flexing
-make billet grill for bumper cover
-get tires on the foose wheels and get those mounted up
-make some hold down brakets for brake line on engine crossmember
-clean, detail, and polish truck up.
-get truck on dyno and tune it in to see what kinda power its putting down
I really do love your truck, awesome
are you going to paint the hood after the sheet metal work is done to it?
and nice guard cow. lol
I like the truck and dog! Good job.
seems like an awesome build.
I would love to do a simple 350 truck build but I don’t know if I could stop myself from bagging it.
^^^4 years ago before i decided to do the v8 swap i almost went for the thorbecke brothers 3 link kit to bag this truck, then the water pump went and i said screw it im doing a v8. LOL. this truck will stay static, but will sit lower. itll be a little lower with my foose wheels, and i have plans to tunnel the floor for more drive shaft clearance and tubular lower control arms to get the truck another inch or two lower there. problem is the truck is so light up front that drop springs dont do anything. i have 2" spindles and 3" 4cyl coils up front and its sitting at like a 4" drop when it used to be 6" when it had the 6.
travis, i do plan to paint the hood. bracing around the cut bracing will be welded in, and the sheetmetal i plan to do will be aluminum, so after it is painted the aluminum will be riveted onto the underside bracing to keep weight of the hood down. gaurd cow? what? haha the dog is stocky, not fat. trust me haha her dad was trained as a k9 unit dog. shes a shiloh, its a specific line of german shepards that are usually bigger and closer related to the original breedline.
thanks for comments, more progress tonight.
