Stockcarboys's Volkswagen Small Block V8 Golf Build

This was my stupid plans at first
this is what the body kit looks like installed which it was not it was just siting there.

1 or 2 years later well i started the swap from the 2.0 to the vr6 Turbo
i was building a aba 2.0l with a 1.8 16v head and turbo but it wouldn’t make enough power so i steeped it up


now this is the 2.0l coming out the inside is mostly striped


I picked up my fuel cell , innercooler, turbo kit , prothane kit
10pt roll cage,

what this car is going to be is a 6 cylinder turbo totally gutted with 10pt roll cage , 2 corbau racing seats, 5pt harness , standalone ecu management, nitrous works wet kit , fuel cell , ksport racing coil overs , it will have a aluminum dash and autometer light wait gauges . next i have to hide wiring and grind interior so everything is clean then hole saw every thing that i can. when i need it i will be getting carbon fiber hatch . There are many many more mods that i can list . but don’t have the time i will update as i go.


This week i took out all the wiring left so i could get rid of stuff that i wont be using. Now i will run wiring threw the frame to keep the interior clean. the wiring looks scary but its easy



today i dry-iced the interior to take out all the sound proof stuff



Towmarrow i will shave the rain tray and grind the interior free of burs and spot weld nubs

this weekend i cut out the spare tire hole and patched it plus patched some holes and welded the plates for the cage



I welded in the plates for the cage out of 3/16 steel plates

ps S&w Cages suck imo they are cut to short in almost every way so its going to take a little longer

well tonight we got the 6 points of the cage in 4 more to go


we finished the cage just a couple little things left steering wheel bracket and fix the one strut tower in front

new updates i put in the one more bar so the cage will pass tech scca ECT…



last night i fixed the passenger front strut tower it was rusted throw . so i patched it and today i made a fiberglass plug for the ware the sun roof was . ill take a pic of the fiber glass plug when it dry’s
(fiberglass didnt work errrr)

new parts forge boost controler ,forge deverter valve , spa fuel pressure regulator.

new ecu 034 chiped ,36 pound injectors, 4" maf housing and sensor out of 400+ hp local golf

ok i totally changed my build because i didnt want to be replacing transmissions for alot of $$$ . so i sold some of my stuff and i am boxing out the rockers and puting the 79 malibu frame under it making it look stock hight then i have a built chevy 350 out of my prostock im puting in the 94 golf making rear wheel drive . i just picked up the frame next step is to take 11" out of the rails (EASY) then box the rockers .




THE motor from this is what is going in the golf its a built chevy 350 making around 400 500hp and i am thinking of runing the same wheels and tires i have to see what they look like

soon all the work i did to the floors will be gone the floors are coming out for the new custom made floor pans
then the cage will sit on the bottom of the frame rails after notching the top of frame rail and welding it.

Please tell me your taking the mirrors, the body kit, and all that yellow shit out. It looks like big bird threw up all over the inside of that car

why the fuel cell? what cage did you buy? is it a bolt in? what turbo? why hole-saw a track car, that probably wont be legal anywhere. What mods are you doing to the engine? can it really handle turbo and nitrous? Is the nitrous really necessary?

tough crowd, keep doing the car for you man. if it makes you happy thats all that matters

(Jrubino)- yea I’m taking the mirrors off and I’m running GP mirrors there very small

(mafdark)- 3 reasons for the fuel cell i love the look plus its lighter and it makes more room for exhaust and its safer because the tank it right near the back bumper it could get hit easy.
The cage is weld in and its a 10pt from s&w .
the turbo is not huge but its OK for a road race car its a t3/t4 AR60
The hole saw is because the Mk3 golf is heavy and the lighter the car the faster . even if it don’t pass tech i don’t really care i love the car it would be a + but not a must I’m building it because i always wanted street legal race car
no i don’t think i will run the nitrous but i have the kit its paid for.
the motor work its a 2.8L I’m going bore out to a 3.1L to lower compresion then over sized valves i don’t have enough time to go in to all i would be here for hours.

i was saying you seem to be fixing all the previous mistakes, and I like the way the project will look when its done.

Ive got a plastic fuel cell, with fuel level sender, gauge, and the straps to secure the tank. I decided to simply sump my tank. less hassles at the strip. If your interested let me know. its a complete setup

yea im def fixing the past :lol . my cell has the GM sending unit in it too im runing the one i have its new . why did you have problems with it at the strip ? its a strip fuel cell

who’s doing all your boring? Sounds like you’ve got quite the build. Since your going to a 3.1 Litre, you should up the size on the turbo and ditch the nitrous idea.

What are you doing about the transmission, you gonna drop a Peloquin LSD in it? If you browse around on Vortex sometimes you can find a deal on them.

i have a guy that i grue up with that builds my stockcar motors or the place in schenectady off of brodway and yea i need to run a peloquin the n20

I never actually ran with it. its brand new. in SFWD you cant have a fuel cell.

yeah, a lsd is whats really lacking in these cars. man i can’t wait to pull my bimmer out. 3.25 lsd + rwd FTW!

thats got to be great having rear wheel drive i would never have tires . im thinking in a couple years doing a all wheel drive conversion from a golf rally or an audi .

i was thinking of shaving the z3 vents smooth on the fenders and selling the body kit what do you people think ? :ponder i just dont want to make it look like every other stock mk3.
