5/20 is everyone draw Muhammad day!

Lackawanna has a pretty large population of Muslims.

This is why I worship at the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Why would you worship questionable food fight remains that can’t help themselves when eaten or thrown :stuck_out_tongue:

Pastafarianism is the one and only truly accepted religion in my mind. All hail the Flying Spaghetti Monster!

nm

joke not worth it lol

If I was ever going to be religious, I’d be Buddhist.

Fixed.

So in other words pastafarianism satire is just a new age idol that some guys/girls worship… doesn’t make sense just made up by some physicist dude who didn’t like people disbelieving in evolution theory and instead believing in a creator, so he created some idol lol.

A religion should be a way of life explaining things and giving guidance. A religion of God should recognize God in a non idolatrous manner in other words truly recognizing the creator not the creation (eg; idols, food, animals, men etc… as points of worship). It should explain things in life not in unclarity or riddles trying to make itself sound puffier than others but with clarity and simplicity. Be able to be questioned and have answers. And give progress and benefit.

Atheistic ridicule of religion goes no where but show the utter hatred of atheists towards religion and God. Also… most secularists and atheists seem to have a hardcore assumption that all religions are ‘the same bag’ of voodoo and compare it to the church and christianity. As if the church is the be all end all prime example of what is religion. (eg; citing things ‘against science’).

We are but specks of sand that have discovered so much knowledge in recent times… and just arrogant because of it.

For instance all this fluff talk of decyphering genomes and even more recently just now in the news the ‘first synthetic cell’ hah… it doesn’t change the fact that we just discover, understand and reproduce mechanisms around us. We did not put it together. We spend millions of dollars and thousands of minds to understand things, discover things and exact the mechanisms in some practical ways only to then say all that precedes us is merely chance or accident and in our proud arrogance denounce God and try to devise ways to explain our existance tthrough a theorized mechanism as opposed to intellect of a creator who provided us with so much.

I don’t want to get off topic but ridiculing religion is just plain stupid it shows lack of understanding of religion whether it be one religion in particular or as a whole unless its legitimate questions such as why this or why that, instead its just lol hey religion is stupid.

The reality is we all follow a religion, a way of life (this goes beyond mere rituals), however we either believe in creator or believe we just came about by chance. We just might not label our way of life as a ‘religion’ but we all have beliefs. Now how valid those beliefs are comes into question based on validity of belief. Sure we can all believe whatever we want but some time or another you would be questioned for it and how much it makes sense. To me religion has to make sense and yes it can make sense. However believing in God takes belief as none of us have seen God but that’s the aspect of faith.

Do I believe in God or do I believe all happened by chance? It’s a choice we make. To me it makes no sense that it all happened by chance. Things happen by order and function in our daily lives on a macro and micro scale. When things go ‘wrong’ or out of sequence only problems occur. Imagine going to your boss oh it was by chance that I was late 5 hours for work. That won’t fly and you’ll probably be penalized for it.

Likewise to me the more I understand the many mechanisms around us, the more I believe in God. Whether it be human anatomy and mechanics, chemistry, you name it… or the outside natural world, the more I understand the more I believe in God. The more questions we answer, the more questions we get, and the more we continue to answer the more fascinating it gets.

Religion and science are at odds simply because some human beings presented that which is of their own doing as that of God and therefore tainted God and belief in God as contradictory but in fact this is only human contradiction. God would not deceive or mislead when supposedly giving guidance to his creation, it makes no sense, only humans would.

Imagine if a dvd player manufacturer gives deceiving or misleading instructions as to how to operate their product. Doesn’t make sense. Only someone who doesn’t know how to operate the dvd player but presents himself as the manufacturer with the instructions would make mistakes on his supposed ‘own product’ whether it be about design or operation. Not such a great analogy but you get my point.

Sciences flourished under the rule of Islam, but eurocentric history creates a giant historical gap between ancient greeks, the roman church blank blank blank blank and then the ‘Renaissance’. The many anti-religion, secularist movements were bent on separating from the church hence the ‘church and state’ seperation talk concept… however again this attitude shows ignorance of the rest of the world and religion beyond the church. Muslims and non muslims in Muslim lands flourished with sciences with no odds with religion. People in europe just tried very hard to write and produce works, ideologies, beliefs, etc… opposed to religion (church really) and pro-the material world. Hence the uprising of such things as communism, materialism, socialism, modernism, darwinism, evolution theory and many other philosophies and ideologies of the day in recent history.

pictures like this have been around for SO long, and are really probably pretty offensive to christians. you dont see christians freaking out and saying “kill anyone that pokes fun at my god”

muslims scare the shit out of me, ever since i was a little boy and went to a travel soccer game in lackawanna. muslim women couldnt even sit in the same stands as the men for the game, and were all wearing the black robes in like 90 degree weather. thats just wacky, srsly.

also, younger (late teens early 20’s) muslim boys would come into the mckinnly mall when my gf worked there and were extremely rude to her on numerous occasions. im thinging it had a lot to do with the way they watched their elders treat women

Well maybe you’re used to girls going wild and cheerleaders, but in some families the women cover up and only reveal themselves to their families. May seem odd to you but they do it for modesty and honor. In fact you’re assuming things about them by judging them on the fact that they cover up and sit seperately. Ironically one would say that ‘dont judge a woman just because she dresses slutty or acts slutty she might not be slutty just because she dresses slutty’ or something stupid like that… when in fact those women are doing something good and not bad but are scrutinized for it.

My mother became muslim and wears hijab and my wife born a muslim was not wearing hijab but started wearing hijab after we got married.

It’s really weird how people have a problem with women covering up ever since the whole media slander of islam and muslims went on an uprise but when it comes to nuns, they ‘sacrifice themselves for God’ but what about muslim women suddenly they are ‘oppressed’ its complete non-sense.

Also muslims are against ridicule of the prophets in general not just Muhammad (peace be upon him). You just don’t hear when muslims are protesting insulting of Jesus (peace be upon him).

For instance when an israeli channel had a show that was insulting Jesus (peace be upon him) in israel, it was mostly muslims who stood up against it while the pope said nothing and his representatives said although it was ‘distastful’ it would be political in nature (hint hint because oh its israel), the media kept a lid closed on it but mentioned barely anything about muslims protesting against the insulting of jesus (peace be upon him).

The media is very selective in its coverage and quite frankly (even before being muslim I knew this) it is highly anti-islam and anti-muslims only progressively getting worse and things liket his ‘draw muhammad day’ is a prime example. People are more openly attacking and slandering islam and muslims every day.

God didn’t make the LS1 motor…humans did.

Just sayin.

<3

no, it was def weird, even sort of sad to me. i kind of almost felt bad for them. it was f’ing hot out.

I can understand the Muslims or even Christians getting mad about “slandering” their god/prophet; but it seems pretty hypocritical to want to kill someone because of it. Wasn’t it Jesus that said turn the other cheek? I’m not up-to-date on Muslim culture, but I’m almost positive that there is no where that states, if Mohammad is made fun of, kill a bunch of people. Religion is just a downfall of society.

But God made the resources that you used to make it and the natural mechanisms that would allow you to study understand and reproduce the same mechanisms in an ls1

Also Sun>LS1 any time for power yo

Well when I lived in north africa my family also found it ‘weird’ that these people would cover up while we were in shorts/tshirts in 50+celsius weather…funny thing is we were the ones turning red like crabs while they safegaurded their skin. Secondly in Libya where I lived they wear even wool (yes wool) both men and women… they are actually smart doing it… read up on desert survival and in the scortching sun.

Thirdly, pretty much all nations of the world used to cover up and dress modestly until the western pop culture spread. Notice how girls of today pretty much dress and do makeup like hookers of the past and it’s all normal. Seriously… So who’s disrespecting who or degrading who? Most modern women are degrading themselves by dressing the way they’re dressing, while a muslim woman who covers up reserves herself and her dignity for her family and herself and doesn’t need to show off her body by dressing sexy to get respect. She is respected for her intellect and dignity.

Sadly even the nuns of today are slowly but surely uncovering and I remember a while back in the news this ‘nun fashion show’ where nuns dressed up sexy and were no longer wearing head covering or body covering… as if poking fun at muslims in a way, it’s like hey muslims wear the headscarve, you know what we dont want to associate with them. Give me a break.

Everything is within context. Jesus also said “I come not to bring peace, but to bring a sword” (Gospel of Matthew 10:34)

The lala land version of christianity about looove and peaace is hypocritical in itself. It’s just an emotional sell for the masses and to cover up the real history of christianity.

Everything has a time in place. When it comes to the message of mercy and love Islam has more of it tenfold than christianity ever will if you actually read. God is presented more merciful and more loving and so are the prophets. At the same time however there is rigorousness and punishment for evil and injustice.

As holy as you want to make yourself sound in certain situations you wouldn’t stand by and get shot just to make yourself sound better.

On the other hand when Muhammad (peace be upon him) came to a town hoping to get help as he his followers were being tortured, attacked, mocked, slandered, dishonored in a variety of ways… the town’s people encouraged the children to stone him and ridicule him and his followers. He was stoned so much so that he blood was all over the floor and he was almost killed. The angel gabriel asked him on command from God that if he wants to he will lift a mountain and crush the town as punishment. Muhammad (peace be upon him) refused and said no, there is hope for them. Surely enough those people actually embraced Islam, and they actually became the helpers to the prophet (peace be upon him) and a safe refuge.

That’s just one tiny example. That’s worst than getting slapped on the cheek.

There’s nothing contridactory in having reward and having punishment. Being merciful towards those that deserve mercy as well as those you want to guide or help even if they are ungreatful and being strong and persevering against injustice.

Whether it be theft, slandering, mockery, humiliation, murder, there is repercussion for everything and this is in Christianity as well except it’s not presented. Christianity is thought through the ever changing teachings of the church not the teachings of the prophets and messengers of God. Christianity has been moulded by St. Paul or as he was really called Saul of Tarsus and Constantine the roman emperor, thus then the church. They did away with the law of God and rid themselves of the Jews as almost a conspiracy fulfilled. The roman empire where it failed in eliminating the Jews infiltrated their religion and changed it and eliminated any opposition by force.

In fact I’ll quote the full quotations about Jesus and what he said:

“Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household. He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it.” (Matthew 10:34-39 NASB)

All the prophets were to be followed as they were the guidance from God, the example of how to be. And if you actually read this will be the case with all of them, but humans are always rebellious.

Likewise in Islam we love Muhammad (peace be upon him) more than ourselves, or our family, you will not understand this because you do not understand Islam or have read the qur’an or the sunnah (the recorded example of the prophet – basically his deeds, actions, etc… and of his companions) with understanding. This man sacrificed his life to the message of God despite so much oppression. But like many of the past prophets and messengers this is the same.

To the above quotation about Jesus (peace be upon him) it was also always the case that when someone embraced God’s messenger/prophet and God… his family would be against him/her to the point they would threaten them with a variety of sanctions (not the UN kind), punishment even death or breaking the ties of kinship (which today people don’t care about as how society has become but family life was (well and is) important). Imagine… you are a child in the past and you embrace God’s message and try to convey it to your family and your family turns away from you. This was basically the case also with Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his family.

Brother against brother, parents against children, etc… including killing them because they embraced God’s message. Hence not all is what it seems if you just pick and chose what you want or listen to the church which just cares about maintaining power and has little to do with God’s message or messengers.

I love cars

LOL at all the religious nutjobs.

Religion of Peace.

P.S.

yeah i think we’re going a little astray here Ahmed.

As for ‘next steps’ i think it is quite clear that we should censor certain words like jesus and allah and newman so that VB automaticaly puts (peace be upon him) afterwards. Perhaps an emoticon of some sort?

LS1 (peace be upon it?)

I have to say though that Ahmed makes very valid points with regards to women and dress… however i think we’d all agree that the ideal is in the middle. We don’t want our wives or female friends to be dressed like hookers or nuns.

On another note, i have an account on stormfront (white supremacy forum) and with a little bit of lurking you can find very intelligent people with very intelligent explanations in support of basically any agenda… for or against religion, for or against killing or supressing a people for whatever reason, for or agianst dressing like a hooker being empowering for women, for or against a CA18DET swap (although that is much harder to find)

That said, as much as i hate to admit it, either there is some shell-shock going on here or Ahmed out-schooled you guys… i’m going with a lock here because i can’t see us remaining on the high-road for a sustained period of time and Ahmed will just go nuts when it degrades.

my fable is more credible than your fable

lets die over it

:roll2:

LOL

Boo at lock! Don’t be a sissy Bing. <3 I actually thought the responses were pretty good and people were not getting too worked up.

yeah, trying to end on a highnote… rather than having it degrade into silliness. Ahmed took this round, i’m sure you guys will get him all worked out a couple more times this week anyways.

i realize we don’t have a mod. hand book but posting after a lock to offer comments would not be in it if we did have one… fyi
