I’ve decided to put up my 280z for sale along with a complete L28et swap and some other miscellaneous parts I’ve gathered for the swap.
There are some spots of rust on the car. There are two holes in the passenger and driver’s side wheel well above the frame rail that will require patching.
The passenger’s side floor has a hole under the seat above the floor support. The drivers side floor has rot alongside the floor support as well as where the floor support meets the engine frame rail. The floor pans can be patched but I would recommend replacing the supports. There is also some rust along the bottom of the driver’s and passenger’s side doors that were previously repaired poorly and began to bubble and some rust along the rockers.
The rear fenders have rot along the outer edges however since I was planning on installing zg flares the area would need to be removed anyways.
The car also has what seems to be baddog frame rails installed over the floor supports but they have alot of surface rust and some areas around the welds have rusted through.
Other then that other usual problem spots like the rear hatch area, wheel well, battery tray, strut towers etc are fine.
The car is currently without engine, 5 speed trans, harness, brake/fuel lines since I removed them to strip the engine bay, however everything that is necessary to make the car run will be included in the sale of the shell. The car also had a leaking tank so I bought a replacement tank that was powder coated and has -6an feed and return tig welded on. Also has a bre style airdam and spoiler. The engine had 150 psi in every cylinder before I removed it the and the car always ran flawlessly when I was DD’ing it. Car will also come with new brake lines and euro tailight assembly. Asking 1500 for everything above.
Now onto the swap
I bought the complete l28et swap from a guy on Hybridz few months back. It came from a late model 280zxt that was rear ended. From what I was told the engine has a rebuilt p90a head and a rebuilt bottom end. After removing the head I did find it had .5mm oversized pistons along with a fresh crosshatch in every cylinder and no visible scoring. I personally replaced every gasket, installed a 1mm Kameari mhg, installed a new timing chain, guides, sprocket, and tensioner.
The swap will come a with complete longblock, 82 NA 280zx 5 speed, n42 intake, fuel and ignition harnesses, ecu, remanufactured afm, msa downpipe, centerforce dual friction clutch, fidanza 240mm aluminum flywheel. Asking 1300 for the swap along with mentioned parts.
Pics will be up later today and here’s my build thread http://nyspeed.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60228 where you can see the bad spots in the wheel wells. I can be reached by pm or at 716-907-2160 or imm4@buffao.edu.
