88 mr2 supercharger oil?

so my manager at work got a 88 supercharged mr2 from her father as a early wedding gift. you autox’rs my have seen it before, he used to go to events in either that or an old prelude si. anyway… she’s saying something about changing the supercharger oil… I said its just the engine oil and there is a feed and return line, ect ect. but she insists that the supercharger has its own oil? never herd of that, she may just be a dumb broad. so. can someone tell me if this is true, and if so, what type of oil to use to change the fluids?thanks! jam

"The supercharger is a roots type unit, manufacturer is unknown at this time. The lower vane is driven by the pully and drives the upper vane via gears located in the rear of the housing. The gears are run in Toyota supercharger oil, Toyota part number 08885-80108. The lubricant costs about $50 for 50ml. Total gearhousing capacity is 130ml. "

I’ve actually never seen a factory roots blower that didn’t have a self contained oiling system.

I know a few years ago, a lot of people in the SC crowd would use GM supercharger oil as it was cheaper than other places/manufacturers. May want to call a dealership and ask

Most all roots chargers are a self contained lubricated system. So, yes it has its own oil.
