im not saying the 7m is junk, and it does have good power potential, its just that the stock bottom end is stouter, holds more power and more parts availible for the 1JZ, and to the right subframe, that is why you get a clip with at 1jz already in it. (a few were made overseas) so you HAVE the subframe. And i would rather not mess with the HG problem at all. And you wont be looking for me at all. it is my friends and this will be a summer project as he doesnt have much time for labor. I have a paltry s13 not worthy of any competitor. Im just stating what i know, and i would say you will know far much more than my 6mos of researching mkIII vs. you 2TurboZ. no harm meant.
1J ftw.
If I had the means of getting mounts(and a harness) for my car, a 1J would be the winner.
Once you ride in a car with one, you will change your mind. I did.
1JZ FTL. What is with you people? There’s a ton of cars here with the 2JZ. I already said this on one forum but I guess I’ll repeat it here:
Stop trying to be mad jdm tyte yo because the japanese don’t even like the 1. They swap them out for 2’s because the 1 is too small. That’s probably why you can find them so easy.
Either way, just stay away from this car.
:word: The Japanese don’t like them and 2.5L is too small. For what? Doesn’t matter.
So just trust me. This car is bad.
Wat?
:picard:
the cost of the 2jz is outrageous in price just like the rb26dett, when you can get just as good performance out of smaller engines ie: rb25det, 1jz and the cost is MUCH lower. but what do i know.
If you want to look for my weak 1jz (which in stock form makes more hp and tq than the 7m)this summer, just look for the trail of tire smoke. I’ll be at the end waiting for you.
There is basically no difference between a 1jz swap and a 2jz swap. A 2jz can’t be put in with the twin turbo set up because the back turbo hits the fire wall. All you need is a $175 motor mount kit for any subframe, wiring whip with ecu, other electronics and a bellhousing, everything else stock will bolt on and this is why people buy front clips. The big difference is in the motor cost. A 1jz cost $800, where as a 2jz will cost $2300, these are my sources, which I got my 1jz shipped in two weeks from CA.
If you really want me to blow your mind do a 1.5jz. I won’t get into that, but like it sounds it’s inbetween. If the car is NA you won’t have any problems with the headgasket, from what I see the turbo ones blow, that 42 extra horse is dangerous.
In my option the mkIII is a great GT driving car. If you want to drag, get something else lighter and swap an in-line 6 in it.
Cant wait chief :gtfo:
As good as all that sounds, just buy a non-turbo 2J, rebuild and turbo charge it. You guys do understand engine work right? ‘Motah swap’ isn’t engine work.
Another thing I’d like to point out, the 7MGTE powered Supra was the fastest Japanese production car ever when it came out.
Back on topic. This Supra sucks and its really ugly.
Depends where you are talking about when you say the fastest:gotme:. And if you think supras are ugly, just go to supramania and look around. Supra’s are like the nerdy girl with glasses and her hair tied up. Once you take the glasses off and the hair down there is a lot to work with.
I said THIS Supra is ugly…
Thats an interesting wikipedia page, I didnt know they had Supras way back in the 80’s!
LOL
I figured that when I said that you would think I was talking about you. I just meant anyone in general. That supra is ugly right now, but with work it could look something like this. But I wouldn’t pay that much for that car. Its worth maybe $2500 at the most if that, depending on if there any other supra’s in the area and if you feel like driving. I drove 4 hours to get mine from Mass.
Sharp…post a front end shot so I will know what it looks like in my rearview without wasting the gas.
this thread delivers for me!
hahhaahaha :grouphug:(cant we all just get along, we are on the same team. SAME TEAM!)
so we gonna get a supra meet going this summer, now that there are like 20 on the board?
Im down with a meet.
HaHa I wish. All my money is going into the motor right now. :rx3:
Sounds good :eekdance:…hopefully you spent enough.
I’m hoping so also. Theres a lot of big horsepower cars up here in Potsdam. I’m down for a Supra meet, somewhere around Syracuse.
