Description:

Hey guys, i recently acquired this set up…but i have new plans for now…

Anyways what i have here is a 92 hatch chassis that is stitch welded (only thing missing is motor, read below…)

I purchased the car in Waterloo and had it towed to a professional shop in Kitchener to get some stitch welding done, as the motor was out (alot easier). Then proceeded to tow it back home in Newmarket (damn towings a bitch $$$).

The details on the car are:
Stitch welds
All power options/sun roof
Good interior
Clean paint
VLSD
Eibach springs on KYB’s
ES performance bushings all round/ 2 new stock lower control arms, all new lower ball joints, new front sway bar end links
180sx brakes

Also if you are looking for a motor…I have a really clean redtop available, perfect compression and has a pretty new ACT perfomance clutch and B&M short shifter.

Here is a picture for now…from the previous owner…the wheels are no more as the front bumper

Thanks

Anyways i do have some pictures now. Also there are some pictures of some nice greddy gauges but, I will not let them go for free, if you do however buy the car i will give a nice deal on them.

Just some more info, the car also has a leather stitched shift boot and leather wrapped glove box, and in the “stitch” weld pictures, thats just one spot, other locations are also stitched.

Now to the pics…(warning, car is really dirty haha)

Send all inquiry’s to pm.

That doesn’t look like stitch welding. That looks like rust repair with full panels.
Please upload some more pics of the complete welded panels.

sorry sir, that is indeed stitch welding,(welding of the seams). Are you talking on top of the towers, the caps thats half showing under the fender? The stock caps were removed, seam stitch under there than new caps were fabricated then stitched on.

… I know what stitch welding is and it is commonly referred to as Seam Welding, however I went with your terminology. Any closeups of these welds? Particularly the welds on the top of the tower. If I were to take this car for certification I’m almost certain they would give me a hard time for those.
I did the same thing on the rear strut towers of my other car. The cops looked at it, thought it was a patch job for a bigger underlying problem and took my car off the road.

anymore pics of under the car?

Up, any questions or concerns please send to pm so we don’t keep bumping this thread, be fair to others ;).

Anyways send offers please i want it all gone now! but i will not except low balls. I now also throw the gauges in and a bunch of other stuff.

Thanks

It is good to bump your thread so you can get some more offers.
Also, if you post pics through PM, the people of TNC cannot evaluate and scrutinize for the prospective buyer. Post pics.

stitch welding is spots and lines (short beads)…and looks like sewing stitches

seam welding is full beads (when done)… but starts as spots, then lines, then beads untill completely filled and looking like a single bead…this is done to keep the heat from warping the material so intemittently adding heat in a star like pattern untill the weld is complete…(star pattern is my preference but not required or anything)

if the alignment holds and there is no warpage/sag etc the “spots as seen” can be finished very cheaply…decent welding guy will do for like $100

they can be turned into full stitch / seam welds for only a little more. (probably another $100 for both towers)

this is a process done on all rally cars…and makes for some serious chasis improvements…
unfortunately worthless unless it has been done to all the welds in the door / trunk openings and pillars and all floor/frame mating surfaces…anywhere the factory spotwelded the chassis…aka “doors and floors” or “complete”.

the weld can be ground and smoothed to completely disappear or darn near it if done right…this will severly reduce “cop hot spotting”
as well if the towers have been lap welded…your laughing as this will be very good and strong…
…as the “caps” are a little bigger than the hole, and the overlapping metal is 2x as thick as factory where welded

metal–> ====@<–weld bead
metal–> ========

im interested in a super cheap chassis so probably not your ideal customer but i am interested pls send me close up pics of the towers and we’ll chat if you like.

EDIT: make that $4500 OBO, making it this price because i saw a car i want.

aye, well thanks for the concern and replys guys. Ill try and get more pics, but i don’t have a camera. Anyways just to end it this is “stitch” welding, notice its just “stitches” of welds. It does help alot, just reinforces the factory spot welds, makes it “stiffer”, good stuff.

Anyways, i saw a car im interested in…I want this gone asap so i can consider the other car. I gonna skip all the negotiating stuff…$4500 and you get everything (gauges too) i have, everything, a bunch of misc stuff too like new weather stripping (car doesnt need it, but you will have it…), brake master heat sheild, brake dust plates (new), engine damper, gaskets, extra rear bumper, etc. Just some small usefull stuff.

Anyways the person that did the welding, did it also too his own 240sx with no problems.

So $4500 OBO for it all, all you need now is a intercooler, can exhaust (which can be found cheaply and easily, i can help). And you have a turbo 240sx.
