since you already have an external pump, ever thought of running the magnafuel external pump. its around 450 for the good one for big power and will support alot more then twins would. I suggest this since you already have it setup for the external pump

i thought of it but i was going to run a bigger cell with internal pumps for noise reasons. is the magnafuel pump quieter than a a1000?

Well she fired up today! I got a bunch of coolant on my header wrap so i have to let all that smoke off. Anyway, i’m off to my parents otherwise i might take a video and post it.

I’m not posting full car pics till its out of the garage and cleaned up. It’s incredibly dirty. My DD garage is right above that garage. There’s a crack in the concrete that needs sealed in the winter when i was bringing snow into the garage shit was dripping down.

My friend has family in VA beach, so we trailored it down to ed, since he comes up twice a year or whatever it added to my decision of having him do it, especially after talking with him. So me and a few friends took a small vacation down there.

Anyways, I had some coil issues it was breaking up I guess a few of the plug wires weren’t seated all the way, ran fine until over 4k. They end up taking my fenders off to get the the coils. All over my ignition system. Fixed that, but there’s still issues with my valve springs. Since I upgraded my valve springs last year I thought they would be fine, but they end up pulling two valve springs to check the K. They were clearly better than stock but not nearly what I need.

You can see I’m probably getting valve float around 4k, these are just the graphs of the tune I have on it. Ed made 18 pulls just trying to iron this thing out as best as he could and get it to run ok with the valve float. You can clearly see where it looks it should go, but just kinda falls off.

It still pulls like a raped ape, 550rwhp/650rwtq in a 2900 lb car is still quick, definalty not to its potential though. I’m probably going to hold off on the springs just drive it as is this summer, then next winter crank the boost up to the max on pump gas and get new springs.

personally i would get springs asap. reason being weak springs will just get weaker, then youll drop a valve causing you a ruined motor and heads. For 225 bucks its something to not over look

I agree. I wouldnt have wasted time tuning on valve float. I’d replace the springs as well. That setup is going to be very nasty if its at 550whp already and not getting a full pull in. How much boost was it running?

Yeah, I’m wondering if it’s valve float for sure. Not sure what else it could be. Boost was consistant, fuel was good. It would have to be either spark or valves.

I think it peaked at like 14 psi maybe. The fuel system and engine could handle pretty much anything I threw at it… i’m wondering what’s the highest boost I could run on pump gas. I refuse to use meth or racegas.

I vote for “get the springs” You got it this far why cheap out on it now.

Did they state what the spring pressures and rates were when they tested them? That alone will tell you if they are tired or not, or if they simply can not handle the cam+ Boost. What cam is in it?

4K is pretty early to experience valve float but can happen if the cam has some aggressive lobes. Boost acts on the valve against the spring, so more spring is required. I’d run a good dual spring for 150 ish lbs on the seat minimum and somewhere near 375-400 open. 350-375 lb/in rate would suffice.
