nice work. keep ballin’
Haha thanks, today I got to play with THE MOST BALLA SHIT EVER SON
Doesnt look like much, but I worked on the car a ton today, did a few more coats on the interior when the humidity permitted later in the day. Worked on the engine bay, but still have some more scrubbing/clean up to do before I can start using adhesive to add the heat shielding, and pretty much sqaured the short block up. Need to finish cleaning the motor mount arms, put the AC delete bracket and alternator on, and plug up the oil returns for the balance shafts. Anyway, photos!
OoooO!
Doing mockups with painters tape and printer paper, total PITA.
Both frame rail pieces taped in, like I said, I still have some cleaning before I actually use the adhesive backing to put them in.
A bunch of photos were snapped of me looking unhappy in the engine bay while mocking up the bell housing section.
Again, just taped up, which is why it’s hanging in the tunnel.
Oil pickup on, and hardware finally found (I know Chris is gonna give me shit as the hardware isnt all perfectly clean)
Got the new cam tower caps and cleaned them up to a near polish, thanks Jim (tool)!
Things coming along, gotta clean up the other mount and they go on tomorrow.
It’s an extremely good heat reflector.
See: Anything NASA does, McLaren F1, Jay (Addictd2Boost)'s engine bay, etc.
ohh thats cool, nice project it seems.
you have a bit more than i do tho!
That’s cause it’s the MOST BALLER SHIT EVER SON.
so are you painting this white?
i’m very impressed with the progress. Hope to see this thing at dunnville this summer
Just the interior, like 996/997 GT3 Cup cars (cept my cage is going flat black to cut down on glare), a few others have done it with good results and it helps pinpoint leaks and makes working on wiring and fuel system/fire suppression much easier.
Rear half of the cage goes in this winter, next year the roof gets cut off and the whole front section gets done. Car will definitely be at Dunnville for fun days with NYSpeed and the Son240sx guys.
Best part about that interior is the blue AN connector on the tunnel, and what it goes to. I’d love to add that but doubt the cash/need will ever be there.
And, it made it there last year! Only if it only lasted 3 corners before the transaxle and torque tube went BOOM!
very nice. I definitly wasn’t thinking about how much easier it would be when working on wiring and such. good idea.
i’m sorry if this was discussed already, but I assume your going with a bolt in cage? since you already painted the inside.
your not gonna put any stickers on it this time are you i just love how that car looks all black.

haha i was there for that. I distinctively remember the clunking noise as you towed it back with the jeep. It was painful lol.
Car will not be stickered most of the year, but if there is another AKA Fall Rally I’ll be taking it on that, so it’ll get stickered again. I was just lazy last year and didnt feel like taking them off. No, the base plate areas will be sanded down and it’s all custom, welded in, by Procar. I dont do that nancy boy bolt in stuff
Yes, the clunking/grinding was painful.

 good man.
I was wondering at first with the white interior whether it was primer and looked white, or if you were going with a white interior. White interior on black car is gonna look awesome Mike.
Keep up the posts, it looks like your still on schedule, no?
Car will be assembled, but we wont have the new wiring harness, cage, floor, or fuel system done. The interior will be back together, as well as the drivetrain and the engine harness. Oh well.
looking nice. i have been moving alot slower on my project. when do you think you will have some fire under the hood?
The bad kind or good kind?
The good kind I’m hoping for a week or two into April.
The bad kind, I’m hoping for never.
of coarse the good kind.
Update:
Started working on the dash today, which required carefully pulling up the edge of the alcantara that is normally tucked behind all the switches/cover pieces in the center of the dash.
Modifying the side vents, this is purely for asthetics as they are no longer functional.
Gasp I just did a mod for form over function… I’m such a ricer.
Lower cut off, next up was trimming, which didnt take all to long.
Finished cleaning the motor mounts, put all new O rings on the Air/Oil seperate and attached that (after cleaning all the grime off of it). Forgot to seal up the balance shaft oil return holes, I’ll need to do that tomorrow if I have time.
New manual hatch release cable, this is so I can open the hatch without using the key (which will be deleted), as I already deleted the motor for it awhile back. The lever will be mounted on the cage, passangers side.
Starting to come together
