Ok, so the gf’s car is throwing 4 codes. cyclinder 1 misfire, cyclider 2 misfire, random misfire, then a P1399, which said it was a manufacturer code, pertaining to the ignition system… im thinking some plugs,wires, cap and rotor should do it, but would like some opinions… thanks… its a 98 ex, with about 160k on it…
sounds like a pretty typical problem with no real definite solutions…

I assume the car runs just plain shatty? Sometimes i’ve taken a high end electrical connector cleaner and sprayed the inside of the diz down a bit if there is bearing dust or something in there. Otherwise, make sure everything tune-up is new, timing set and go from there.
^^ Try cleaning it before you do anything. If that does not at least temporarily fix it…plugs/wires/cap/rotor are cheap and easy. If none of that fixes it, you can be sure it’s the dizzy.
that’s the code the guy wrote down… he said it is not just a obd code though, he said its a manufacturer code, which i dont know what exactly he meant by that, but i looked online a little bit and found nothing. im just gonna do the tune up stuff, plugs wires, cap, rotor, and reset the ecu and see what happens…
it didnt run that bad when i got to her car, but she said when she was driving it she couldnt go above 40 and the car was shaking horribly…
I have the factory service manuals for your car and that code isnt even listed… maybe it was relayed incorrectly?
sohc’s are always picky about plugs and gap, hopefully its not anything serious.
