A Cheapish car

I have like 800 to spend on a car witch i got to find one before college and Craigslist isnt doing it cant find anything with like under 150k and is road worthy u know i dont mind doing like some out side small shit but when it gets down to the engine i dont know very much about thats so prefer to run decent. thank for reading pleaze comment

buy my grand am

Good fucking luck

not to bust your balls or anything but for 800 you cant really find anything that has low miles or is even legal to have on the street, and will deff not have engine problems. i dont want to sound like a dick but you would be better of buying a bike and driving that to school. anything for 800 isnt going to get you anywere for a long time, it will break down in the first couple of weeks if youre lucky. and repairs would cost more than the car

X2

Ive been driving my 800$ car since november, and I just drove it to warren pa and back last night. Buy it, if these folks from craigslist dont buy it tonight.

94 Volvo 940. 230k miles, auto, power windows and locks, no rust. It runs great. Most of these you find for sale have simliar mileage and are going for $1500 or so. Needs a few small things but I have dd’d it for the past year with no problems. I would take $800.

I’ll let it go for 800

I told him this a while ago (hes my younger brother).

The Volvo sounds like a good investment, those things can see up to 400k with proper maintenance.

I also foud this for him on CL yesterday:

Tell your little brother the camry is his fir 500 Link is two posts up

true, dont get me wrong, you can find some great deals, but a lot of the time its not worth your time, if hes willing to settle for anything than thats better than wanting to get a specific car for 800, as long as hes not picky.

Finding something with much less than 150k will be very difficult but for $800 you can definitely get something that will get you around and pass NYS inspection legitimately. Just don’t expect it to last all that long. If you get something for $800 or less, don’t put money into it, and if it lasts for a year or two reliably, consider yourself lucky. I bought a '90 Nissan Stanza w/150k for $600 that was very rotted but was owned by a mechanic, and the balljoints, cv shafts, clutch, and a bunch of other parts were new. Even had cold A/C and a clean interior. I got 30mpg every day for almost 2 years, and I never put money into it and the only time I worked on it was patching the gas tank and re-attaching a parking brake cable. That car was extremely reliable and ran great until the day I sold it. The only reason I got rid of it was because the quarters were gone, the tank had started leaking again, the PS lines had all rotted away, parking brake cable bracket rotted, and the muffler fell off. Every issue was rust-related, so maybe pick up something for about $800 but travel south to get it. And maybe do a compression or leakdown test before you buy.

that volvo was owned by my father who was a mechanic for 25 yrs. He picked up at an auction and has done all regular maintenance over the last few years. Its definately a good car. Safe and good on gas!..slow as balls though.

i have a 98 chrysler cirrus, 150k, runs great. very reliable. $1000 and its yours

93 civic with 160k engine runs great just watch the oil. 800 its yours as soon as you want it and i can clean it for you.

Update:

We found him a 98 Saturn SC2 with 77k for $700. All its needed so far was front brakes, CTS, and a cleaning.
