When I turned 16, I didn’t have a lot of money either. I saved and bought a barely running 89 dodge colt hatchback. When I turned 18 and could work some reasonable hours, I got a shitty manual labor job that paid $10 an hour (not bad for 7 years ago) and saved up enough to buy my first hot rod. If you even manage to find something you think will make a good project, it will just be a waste of your time and money. It will always always always cost more to “fix up” a beater than to buy something that doesn’t need fixing in the first place.
