Thank you for the update!
Anybody have actual prices for setting up any events on the speedway on the dates when there is nothing else planned?
I have certain things planned which are not exactly public but need something in lue of “a professional driver on a closed course” type situation and if affordable I’ll go there to do it when needed.
:lol ill be gone for 2 months starting this monday, and there looking to extend the contract. im acutally doing a conference call as i type this… everybody but 3 people are located in cali so they dont care that its taking place at 2am-245am ~bullshit! also it kills me that i didnt make one event last year… i had to work most of them and the one i could have gone to my oilpan decided it hates life and found a elevated manhole cover. (and by those last 3 words… i already know what your post is going to be about lol)

AMEC AUTOCROSS NEWS
Hi everyone,
The Adirondack Motor enthusiast Club just finished a very successful 7 days of ice racing over the winter and we are now pleased to announce our 2010 autocross series to be held at the newly re-paved Albany Saratoga Speedway.
Our autocross last November was a sell out with a waiting list. We have a full schedule of 6 dates set for the summer of 2010 we hope you will all be able to attend. We tried very hard to not conflict with holidays or any other auto related events put on by all the local clubs that we could find.
Our first event is Saturday May 8th 2010 this should be a great way to start the season off with AMEC. There is a full day of activities being held at the speedway. AMEC will hold our autocross during the day and at the same time there will be a car and truck show put on by Firebird Nation of North America to benefit Saratoga Bridges then at 6PM there will be a drifting show. This should be a great day so bring the family!
The rest of the summer autocross dates are below please put them on your calendars!
Autocross #2 is Sunday June 13th
Autocross #3 is Saturday July 10th
Autocross #4 is Sunday August 15th
Autocross #5 is Saturday September 25th
Autocross #6 is Saturday October 16th
We are hoping to have on line registration set up by April 1st 2010 to start taking pre registrations for the fist event in May.
We learned a lot at the November autocross last year. We set that autocross up a little conservative because we had not run at Albany Saratoga Speedway since the 70’s and the cars today are much faster and tires are much stickier. We learned a lot and hope to make this summer’s autocross series one you will be waiting for each month.
Albany Saratoga Speedway is ready and waiting for us. The track has all new top quality pavement and has been widened so we have more options for course design.
We plan to run with simple classes very close to the way we did last November.
To read about last years November autocross please look at our message board thread on the icerace.com web site. To go directly to a wrap up of the event from last November click on this link. http://www.runboard.com/bamecmessageboard.f1.t28658|offset=220 there is a lot of interesting stuff before and after this link so please read it all if you want!
We hope to also run the 2010 summer autocrosses so that the participants do not have to work. AMEC plans on doing the work for you we want you to come and just have fun! On the other hand if you would like to help out with anything we will always accept help. We are looking for dedicated people to help so don’t hesitate to get involved if you want to be a part of the set up team.
We are considering different possibilities for awards so please let me know if you have any suggestions. We may do the usual trophies or possibly a 6 race summer point’s deal. Lots of options so let me know if you have preferences or ideas.
We are looking for event sponsors too if there are any businesses that want to help out. We are looking to possibly cover workers meals or trophies please contact me to get involved. Dave Burnham racing48 at nycap.rr.com
More info will be coming soon so please stay tuned it should be a fast fun summer at Albany Saratoga Speedway please spread the word!

AMEC AUTOCROSS NEWS
This just in from Dave Burnham:
Only 1 month until our first Autocross at Albany Saratoga Speedway!
Good news! We have opened up registration for the Saturday May 8, 2010 Albany Saratoga Speedway Autocross (with a rain date for Sunday May 9th.)
To pre register please go to the AMEC web site http://www.icerace.com and click on the red autocross link on the left. That will take you to a spec page for the event. At the bottom of the spec page you can click on the registration page.
Our registration is being handled though Motorsportsreg.com and it’s really easy to sign up. You can pay with a credit card or money can be taken out of your bank account. No money will be drawn or charged until one week before the event. You can enter in all your info about your car, pick a car number, emergency contacts everything we would normally do at registration so it should stream line the process. There may be some SCCA type questions that you can skip over unless you want to fill that part out.
If you need to cancel your registration after your credit card or bank account has been charged there is a 7.5% cancellation fee.
It is again only $40 per driver to enter the autocross. This season there is a $5 charge for non drivers to enter the pits. No one under 14 years old will be allowed in the pit area.
There is no charge to enter the main grandstand.
We are again using our very simple classing system. This should make classing the cars easy and insure lots of drivers in each class.

It’s very expensive to rent the Albany Saratoga Speedway for an event like this so we need to sell out. We did last year in November and we also had a waiting list. We hope the same will happen for the 6 autocrosses we have scheduled for 2010 at the speedway. So to make sure you can get in please sign up soon!
This first event will be really neat with a Car and Truck Show put on by Firebird Nation. This will be happening at the same time our autocross is happening so you will have lots to see between autocross runs. Then at 6PM there will be a drifting show I am definitely staying to see that. It should be a fun day!
If you would like to participate in any discussions or have questions about the autocross series please go to our message board autocross link at http://www.runboard.com/bamecmessageboard.f1.t28857 .
If you have any other specific questions please feel free to call or e mail

Dave can also add you to our autocross e mail list. He will send out periodic emails reminding everyone about details of the event.
How fast are our “high speed” autocross events? Check out this in car video. There are more on youtube as well.
Aftermarket rims – stock or prepared?
Rims alone won’t bump you up a class.
There are currently 33 entries as of April 14th.

ill be there again this time with my winter car its a 1986 vw scirocco i dont know what class i will be in. it has race land coil overs and upgraded sway bars but the motor is completly stock. its a 1.8L 8v if there is a slow class i would fit in there lol
I just registerd @ www.motorsportsreg.com a good way you know you will have a spot
hey mike can you ask how i can register my car twice ? my brother wants to race it too i seen a couple cars do it last year.
Hello Jeremy,
The system signs up the drivers, and not the cars. So each driver needs to register separately and just fill in the blank for the same car as yours. It is nice in many ways, one of them being that once registered, drivers are only a few quick clicks away from signing up again for the following event. It remembers all of your details.
Mike
Do we have to sign up on the website or are we allowed to sign up the morning of the event??
You can take a chance and sign up the morning of the event if there is space [or no shows]. They are taking up to 70-75 cars max. Signing up online is quick and easy though, and guarantees your spot.
These adrenaline charged speedway autocross events are the only ones of their kind. Time to drop the hammer people!
Mike
what about those signing up for the drift event after? We just pay when we get there?
The drift event is put on by another club, so I don’t know how they handle registration.
