A v.s. question

I don’t yet have a 240, but I’m interested in getting one and I have a few really good reasons why. I have, however, been debating b/n the XXMS13(x)(XX) and an n/a FC3.

I was just wondering if any of you could add your own reasons as to why you would rather drive an S13 over the FC3

my thoughts so far, based on the resources I’ve gone through, are as follows:

the KA24DE has higher torque specs than the n/a 1.3 wankel
both the MS13 and RMS13 seem to be a minimum of 70 lbs lighter
(more interested in torque to weight ratios than hp)

the S13 chassis has 5 and 4 star crash ratings for driver and passenger respectively.

The 240 has a strong record for reliability and I believe the KA24DE is easier to find a mechanic for.

With the growing trend in drifting, plus the fact that the RPS13 was discontinued 5 years after the FC3, I think it should be easier to find aftermarket support.
(the thing that concerns me here is that the growing trend in drifting might mean a growing trend in theft… S13 = most sought after NA drift car ???)

So if the (pure) numbers are better, the reliability is better and the support is better, why do I get the feeling that people think the FC3 is the prize of this era of sports cars? (of course the mere thought of twin turbo is enough to make me have to change my pants, but even the n/a FC3 gets somewhat better reviews than the MS13). Any thoughts on this? And why did you go with the 240 (or 180 if you’re going to argue against the twin 7)?

much easier to find an FC in good shape body wise. avery has one for sale right now actually, PM him.

the 1.3’s tend to blow up sometimes tho, and arent known for reliability whereas the KA’s are bulletproof.

S13’s rot, even the “mint” ones on here have some sort of rust. if you havent fallen in love with S13’s yet get out while you still can, thats the honest truth.

I have both a FC and s13. My fc is just a winter car. I got it becasue it was a good price and actly like it alot! It is better in the snow then the 240 and is more comftebul. The back seats are alot smaller though. The rx handle better then the stock then a s13 stock. My FC is the GXL and has 5lug wheel pattern and 4piston brakes. Where the s13 has 4lug 1piston. Also alot of people ask me why i am makeing my 240 nice and not the FC.

But I love my 240 and everything about it but i have put alot in to it. Maybe if I had a FC firts I would say the other way arond.

Hey Ed… I see that you’re car less, but why ask for the FC? Why not look for a 240? (unless you just want a beater :?: )

I want a 240 now, but I wouldn’t mind adding the FC as a future endevour

I went to look for an FC before I bought my S13. The FC had flooded the engine and wouldn’t start, I ended up not buying that specific one because I saw it as a bad sign. I talked to my friend that owns one later on that day, and he dissuaded me from buying one in general. (i was looking at the turbo II, not the N/A thou)
