I’ve used AAA before towing the gp form NYI, and others cars. I know once AAA relases a driver to get the car, the driver dosnt really care, about the car. (slicks,in race mode, on the track) The phone operater asked for the plate number, and thats about it.
Now If you were to get plates off a registed car of the same make and model, and call that car in. I don’t remeber if the tow truck driver writes down any other info about the car. Inspeced, registerd… the vin of the car.
Will AAA allow a car to be towed thats not the car the plates belong too, is the question. This is if the car is the same make and model, and the plates are placed on this other car.
Ugh! Just don’t get M&M Towing. The last driver I had was a scumbag. I had plates on the car and he wouldn’t touch it cause the registration didn’t match the plates. It was only being towed like 10 minutes away too.
Auto Rescue are cool dudes. Never gave me any problems. Even when there was no motor in the car.
Yeah if you request a garage such as auto rescue (knolls mobil) or Bellrengs i know they wont check just have plates on it and tell them you know me (AL) i worked there…or if you want call me at 804-1147 i can hook you up with a good deal on a retail tow
I’ve had tons of unregistered cars towed. As long as there are plates and stickers on it, and it doesn’t look like it was just pulled out of a field, they will usually take it. Most places could care less, they get paid either way. Having it towed in the rain, or at night is extra insurance that they won’t waste time studying your stickers and plates.
cash best bet. i threw a set of plates on my camaro with a 2 year old reg and inspection sticker, not even titled in my name… there were no questions asked.
Someone has to explain this one to me. It would seem that many cars which need to be towed wouldn’t have up to date registration, or plates, etc.? What am I missing here?

More importantly they want to be sure the car is yours. AAA doesn’t want you to pick out a car you want in a parking lot or beside somebody’s house and then have them steal it for you. Reg/ins doesn’t matter it falls under the trucks insurance if there is a accident or injury or something.

Actually, AAA is only supposed to tow cars that break down while driving on a street or highway. By their rules, if the car didn’t break while normal driving, they’re not suppose to touch it.
If it doesn’t have plates, registration or say even a motor, then obviously it didn’t break down on the street recently. Yeah, there are those instances where it might break down and you get it home and take the plates off, but they’ll give you problems with it regardless.
If you’re going to pay a AAA towtruck driver extra to tow something that they wouldn’t usually tow, why not just call a tow truck company and pay their tow rate? Take AAA out of the equation.
