Adirondack Backpacking, looking for a good place to start.

Two friends and I are planning a 3-4 night backpacking trip in June somewhere in the adirondack’s. Does anyone know of any good trails or starting locations that will not be heavily traveled? We need someplace to park the truck for the week. Anyone know of any awesome waterfalls or caves? I know a lot of those kind of things tend to be kept secret by the avid campers.

We know how to backpack and camp, so not looking for any advice there, this will just be our first time to the Adirondack region for backpacking.

Thanks in advance.

One place that I’ve always wanted to hike to was T Lake Falls trail at Piseco Lake. Just from googling it, the trail is closed but it seems easy to find your way.

Backpacking is awesome

We are not looking to do any canoeing. We are thinking two days hike to a destination, set up camp for a day and then two days to loop back out.

Funny, I was just researching that. We are not nearly as concerned about trail condition as we are about having a decent place to park the vehicle and not seeing much traffic on the trail. IMO when you see others it just kills the feeling of being out in the wilderness.

Paging Avatar and Frost…

Pen, canoeing was only a small part of that trip. There are ways around the lake.

My guess is you won’t see anyone considering it’s a closed trail and most people don’t know about it, so that’s right up your alley. I have a camp at Piseco and from what I remember they still have the marking up for the start of the trail and you can park anywhere on the road. There are no parking restrictions.
