I’m looking for some suggestions on where I can hike in and set up camp for the weekend. Preferably no cell service , near a pond or lake would be nice.
I was thinking about heading over to the mountains, but I have no way point to head to. I’m not sure of the girlfriends hiking skills so if a bear shows up I can totally outrun her.
Bears are really quite friendly. Their reputation is all media hype.
Algonquin north of Toronto is pretty nice. Morrison Trail at Allegheny would be good. Adirondacks have lots of options. Bruce Peninsula is nice, too, but not much for hiking.
- karma for adding actual links to relevant info on your post.
Get up to the ADKS and get yourself lost. Plenty of areas to post up with no Cell service and certainly plenty of beautiful lakes. I hung out on the Eastern side of the ADKS growing up, not too well versed on ‘shorter drive’ ADK options for camping.
In the Adirondacks there are many places where there are lean-to’s and shelters that you could camp in. Most are first come, first server. I did that years ago around Eagle Lake to Racquette Lake on a week long canoe/camping trip.
