First off, i know its too high. Im okay with it. The room is very long and the couch is on the other end. There will be a soundbar in front so it will hide all the wires.
I have an ultra slim mount ready to go, and i plan on mounting it in the mortar and not the brick. This will make it easier to fill in if i ever decide to take the tv down. My only question is should i use the hardware in the kit or should i buy masonry specific bolts? I’ll post pics of the hardware that came with the wall mount tonight.
If it were me I’d use as many masonry fasteners as the mounting bracket will allow in conjunction with an adhesive in the anchors, epoxy or construction adhesive. Set them a little deep in the hole so you can patch with mortar when you take it down.
Definitely not whatever crappy fasteners came with your kit. I guarantee they are crappy. Go get yourself the best fasteners you can buy, with the heaviest weight rating for a masonry application. It will be the safest $10 investment you have ever made. I did the same thing above my fireplace with a 54" heavy plasma and it has been rock solid for a year.
Same setup here, 54" above fireplace and our seating is ~15 feet back. We use an IR remote for everything so no visible wires or boxes, just see a TV mounted on the wall…looks awesome.
The fasteners have been covered so I’ll just add this. Get rid of the ultra flush mount and get one that can tilt. Since you’re mounting it too high having it tilt down a few degrees is going to make a huge difference.
