advice on selling on ebay?

Its just the fact they are constantly raising prices. On everything. Before it was worth it to sell something for 10 bucks you had laying around but now with the money that gets taken out its not worth the time or hassle

Exactly. I might as well throw the stuff away. It’s not like I press a few buttons and the money comes flowing in from Ebay. It’s a lot of work to pull a part, clean it, research, photograph, list, ship, etc if you’re going to make only a few dollars. It costs 75 cents to list a $9.99 item with the gallery fee. I host my pictures, but If I didn’t I’d pay extra for decent sized/multiples as well. Then theres the percentage they take. Then Paypal charges a fee, and a percentage. Someone pays from out of the country, thats even more money. It adds up. Ebay doesn’t have to do anything but maintain their site, which is not a lot of work when you consider how many millions of items people sell, and how much money is brought in.

Ebay could charge a lot less for using their site, but why would they? Same reason we’re getting raped at the gas pumps. People will pay it. So as a consumer, it’s my job to save money. Thats why I get the most for my dollar on Ebay.

So you got nothing from them, but you actually make money? If you’re making money then stop complaining. Try getting a B&M store and see how much fees you’ll pay.

What I meant was I don’t get any benefits from selling thousands of items, vs selling 4. I’m not complaining, simply outlining how to get the most for your money due to their fee structure.

If you buy a car, fix it up, and sell it for profit using the Buffalo News, does that mean the news made you money? No, you made the money yourself through your hard work. They simply published your ad for a fee. Same with Ebay.

I have a bunch of smaller items that I was going to list on ebay, but I throw them on a few sites other than mine and see what heppens before eBay. If they don’t sell, no loss.

I’ll only sell anything on eBay if there is a decent profit margin. It’s not wirth the time to make the listing, take pics, write a description, and ship for a few dollars.
