Air ride on s13

anyone ever use airride on a drift/track car?
im guessing since it uses airbags you would loose stifness but im not sure… your opinions guys…

just thinking it would be baller to roll up jacked off the ground then slam the car to just off the ground before you race… (its all about astetics, same with nice paint and emblems/tags/vinals) just wondering how it would impede performance

BTW keep the cost point out of this debate please. everyone knows its $2000 plus for any car…

air ride on a 240 would be sick, you can slam your car just before u race and drift, will definitely help with points for drifting too.

my high school budyd is putting airbags on his show car… get this… It’s a taurus wagon… its not bad actually… v6 SHO swap, he did a custom stereo set up with fibreglass enclosures.

It’s still a Taurus wagon… I’ve driven one. They’re entertaining for about 3 seconds, then you realize you’re in a Taurus wagon… At least it’ll out perform a 240.

yeaaaaa man. thats definatly the key to a good track/drift car

FWIW, as some actual useful information to the OP… Many muscle cars run airride suspension, and it’s been proven to be just as capable on the track as a conventional suspension set up. Not sure how it’d fare in drifting, I’m speaking merely in terms of grip racing…

At least he never has to upgrade the brakes.

tauruas wagans are sick, even more so on air ride.

and he asked about air ride on a 240 not about a fucking ford. i dont htink it would be a good idea. you will probably get harassed anyway cause peopele wanna be jdm tyte, just get air ride, throw it on…drift with it, if you hate it sell it and start again. im sure someone out there will like to hit switches in a japanese car.

maybe ill be unique and do it…

just wondering the aftermath now of hitting a nice drift and hitting the switch to make the rear inflate higher would do… id imagine if used properly it could help with weight transition thus longer better drifts… but who knows… $2000 is a bit of a risk…
has anyone tried to drift in an airride car?

You’re asking that question on SON, the broke-est forum on the internet.

A shop in Japan had an FD drift car on bags some mag did a big article on it(sorry cant remember the mag).

My 91 ToreAss was awsome, Still miss it to this day

I am actually not bullshiting here.

MArk comon dude, you dont know a thing about drifting stop talking like you do.

not a 240 but its s s15 silvia with air rides and its twin charged

:fnf2:

even if the switches wont help with weight transfer, at least it will look ballin when your sideways and makin the car look all crazy. you know what you should do if you do it, put the grind blocks under the rear of the car, so when your drifting you can slam the rear down and let the sparks fly, i seep eople in trucks do it all the time.

nice… maybe i will just for the spark effect…

but none of this helps my question… if i drop a shit load into stiffining my chassis would putting airbags on defeat this and cause my body to sway when i drift. i just dont want Adverse affects on driving.

this guy seems to have no problem drifting on air ride.
