Airforce1's support buddy - C17

Terrible pictures but the best camera is the one you have on hand, in my case it’s solely iPhone 3GS - maybe somebody can get some nicer pics with a serious camera tomorrow before it’s gone. It’s in the Eastern most side of the Airport by the Pepsi building. Intersection of Wade and Old Niskayuna.

And since my photos suck… google to the rescue.

Looks like a c17 in the first two pics. Its a little smaller than the c5.

Hard to tell from that distance, but I have flown in a C5 with a full load of humvee’s and those fuckers are HUGE.

I have no idea. I googled presidential support plane until I found one with the limos coming out that was captioned as C5.

Thing is huge though.

If you look at the google image Vlad posted, the c5 appears more narrow at the top of the plane and bells outward for the cargo area. In the first two pictures the plane appears pretty round. C5s are incredibly large and still amaze me they can get off the ground with the payloads they do.

You’re right. The wings tips were standing straight up at the airport, just like C17 in the pictures I’ve found.

C5 opens at the nose and tail, large payload transporter. years ago when an EP3 was shot down over China, it was brought back to the states in a C5 Galaxy. wings removed and the fuselage loaded inside the Galaxy

C17 is primarily for ground support/logistics support and refueling operations.

this is at my work right now along with somebody sort of important

I wanna try and see the plane today

from a couple of years ago when obummer visited hvcc, this was right above the cp sportman club. C5

Saw it fly in. I love seeing big ass planes.

C17 IS BADASS, I was actually able to work on/design some parts for the plane while interning @ Kaman aerospace.

carries big hoss

Cadillac FTW!

Can’t believe Toyota hasn’t tapped into the presidential fleet yet. 5 years from now the fleet will be Camry limos.

look how many fucks i give about obamas stupid plane. NONE. does it have spinner yet? donkridingsumbitch.

The securemotorcade vehicles are brought in advance by a C-5 Galaxy or a couple of C-17 Globemasters. More if they bring helicopters, not to mention if they’re making more than one stop on the same trip (as they were with Ireland and Dublin). The spare VC-25 (AF1) is usually stationed somewhere close by in case the one in use suffers a fault. On some foreign trips there will also be a USN carrier battle group exercising off the coast, which is not entirely coincidental.

Generally they only bring in about 10 or so cars specially - the rest will be local police/ambulance/embassy, hired minibuses for journalists and staff, etc.

Oh, that’s not so bad. :Idiots

I do wonder where my ride in Air Force One is, though. Considering I (and most other members here) involuntarily help pay for it.

Yeah where’s all my tank rides? when do I get to shoot howitzers? I didn’t volunteer for any of this shit. If it was up to me the President would just drive everywhere.

the motorcade was fucking nuts, drove about 15 feet away from me…there had to be like 17 cars. And as much as I am not a fan of the guy, getting to be at his visits twice now (GE last year, and UAlbany this year). It is pretty fucking cool to be in the same room with the guy who has a black briefcase that could blow up the whole fucking world…
