Terrible pictures but the best camera is the one you have on hand, in my case it’s solely iPhone 3GS - maybe somebody can get some nicer pics with a serious camera tomorrow before it’s gone. It’s in the Eastern most side of the Airport by the Pepsi building. Intersection of Wade and Old Niskayuna.
If you look at the google image Vlad posted, the c5 appears more narrow at the top of the plane and bells outward for the cargo area. In the first two pictures the plane appears pretty round. C5s are incredibly large and still amaze me they can get off the ground with the payloads they do.
C5 opens at the nose and tail, large payload transporter. years ago when an EP3 was shot down over China, it was brought back to the states in a C5 Galaxy. wings removed and the fuselage loaded inside the Galaxy
C17 is primarily for ground support/logistics support and refueling operations.
The securemotorcade vehicles are brought in advance by a C-5 Galaxy or a couple of C-17 Globemasters. More if they bring helicopters, not to mention if they’re making more than one stop on the same trip (as they were with Ireland and Dublin). The spare VC-25 (AF1) is usually stationed somewhere close by in case the one in use suffers a fault. On some foreign trips there will also be a USN carrier battle group exercising off the coast, which is not entirely coincidental.
Generally they only bring in about 10 or so cars specially - the rest will be local police/ambulance/embassy, hired minibuses for journalists and staff, etc.
Yeah where’s all my tank rides? when do I get to shoot howitzers? I didn’t volunteer for any of this shit. If it was up to me the President would just drive everywhere.
the motorcade was fucking nuts, drove about 15 feet away from me…there had to be like 17 cars. And as much as I am not a fan of the guy, getting to be at his visits twice now (GE last year, and UAlbany this year). It is pretty fucking cool to be in the same room with the guy who has a black briefcase that could blow up the whole fucking world…
