so whats your point? we were doing pretty well before then. we went from not being a country to the most powerful one in the world, and there werent many occasions where we were on foreign soil. besides, most of europe gets along just fine now. let the peoples in the middle east fight if they want, us getting in the middle of it only makes it worse as alot of the issues there are through religious disputes, not political. and just because we have the largest armed forces around it dosent mean we have to use it, even with just maintaining what we have instead now costs would go way down.
oh and no, im not a democrat, though im not a republican either. i just feel that moving towards isolationism would be all around beneficial in this country right now.

Freek covered some. Also, what would have happend if we didn’t jump into WWII even after Pearl Harbor? What would Europe be? Where would the US be? Now what happens if a country tries to take over another’s again? Should we stay out of it and see what happens or intervine so we have some control of the out come?

You forgot to correct the part about how we were just another average country until the MASSIVE government spending (as in, the federal budget was twice our GDP) during WWII and then the cold war. Up until really WWI we were a major agrarian economy with a ton of natural resources, but by no means a superpower. It wasn’t until WWII ended that we emerged with Russia as the world’s two dominant superpowers. Then since the Soviet Union collaped in 1989 we’ve been the world’s only superpower. So we’ve really only been the world’s sole superpower for 21 years. Kind of a flash in the pan, historically speaking.
Fun fact: In 1990 Saddam had the world’s 4th largest army at 900,000 soldiers.

umm, i never stated that we shouldnt have joined ww2. maybe i should have been more clear. we should be staying out of shit unless something such as pearl harbor occurs. theres no need to invade places for no reason other then assuming they have weapons, and the “hey even though they can do whatever they want since they are their own country and we shouldnt be controlling them, we will anyways” is still retarded. and what i meant by how powerful we had become before the war, im refering to how much we grew as a country in such a short time compared to other countries. there werent any american companies building their products in foreign countries, there wasent free trade, etc like there is now, which i think is a step in the wrong direction.
and fyi, i did pass hs history. actually aced it and was like number 30 of around 240 or somethin in my class. i just simply dont care to take the internet as seriously as you, which is why i dont care to specifically explain everything. as for massive spending, it wasent that massive until regan came around. yes that is what ended the cold war, but it had some pretty bad long term effects that are just continuing to get progressively worse.

If the war was allowed to be run like a war this would have been over with years ago. I’ve seen the fight from the beginning till 2008. CNN and politics ruined both of these wars.

Are you sure about that one? I have enough enough friends in enough places to see more of the painted picture than most. The large frame work , for the most part, was laid out years in advance. This comes from my own personal intimate knowledge in this situation.
I have friends in the funny shaped building as well. Pretty much everything stopped and was reviewed by O’s people. Then they were changed and given a new go ahead. Specific plans change down to the week before the actual mission. The idea for people being requested for a certain time period is there but any operation specific roles for those people isn’t. We have showed up in country and they have no clue why were there and make up missions for a huge aviation asset.
Actual missions take about 90 days to plan and execute. If you plan any further out then too much has changed for it to have any accuracy. A surge in people is no strategy, just manning and old obama still has to sign all the requests to governors for all the NG troops. There is no way to honest way place this on booooosh, but many will try.
