Looks like it could kill his credit if the guy pursues it. Nikuk knows his shit. He’s some sort of money guy. During the week anyways. I’m pretty sure he’s a lumberjack on the weekends.
Brian, call a lawyer. - or - do you have an in-house counsel where you work? just ask them .
or just take it from the other perspective, tell him you want to do business, have him contract the house he designed (and you approved) for 150k… or negotiate for 155-160… that wont kill your payments too bad. just put some more down on the loan
Did you actually pay $150 to tour a model home?
learn something new ever day. I worked with judgments, lines of credit, and peoples CBRs for over a year and never saw a judgment hurt a credit score. Usually it just ends up something that prevents you from taking out future lines of credit… but now that I think of it, nothing I worked with had anything to do with small claims. fuck.
my parents got screwd pretty good by a builder. I think they got the investment back but after a few years.
They wanted to build a deck off the back of the house, the builder said everything was ready to go and they would start the planning. So my parents put a down payment down (down payment to them means pay everything off in cash), and they find out from the building inspector that they cannot build the deck because of where their septic tank was. So not being able to build the deck my parents naturally wanted their money back, since they are unable to get the end product.
The builders refused, they went to court and parents got a new kitchen
not sure if this has anything to do with the story other than just being extremely careful with what you sign
he cant touch my credit without getting a judgement in court against me though right…
right. public record or promisary note.
ok, so basically sit back and see how they take it… if he tries to take me to court, ill deal with it then… just dont want any surprises on my Credit report
I really doubt he’ll take you to court for $500. The time & fees to file a judgement would outweigh that I imagine.
You are SOOOO wrong. If the contractor takes Viper to Court and wins…bam, he gets a judgment against him unless he pays.
I highly doubt he will go after you for the 500 bucks but if he does…I can hook you up with an attorney who is awesome and will cut you a deal. She really knows housing laws and has experience with crappy contractors.
shitty that it fell through overall, from my experiences looking into building, 17x does sound more realistic regardless of location in upstate (but obviously not super desirable land)
