alpine auxilary hookup?

i just installed my old alpine deck on my winter car, i bought a cord for my ipod that uses the headphone jack to connect to to aux ports (red white)i plugged in the cord but i cant play the ipod, there is no aux selection. i tried swithing source power which switches between FM and CD but that didnt work, ive read there is a switch you have to turn on on the back? are ipods just not compatible with older alpine decks? is there settings on my ipod i should play with?

Sounds like you need to turn on the aux input. Maybe in the headunit menu? is there an aux in button anywhere? and it is an input correct?

Jeller

There should be a switch on the chassis of the case. Then I believe it’s switched like a CD (as in the HU thinks its a CD changer)

press and hold display button i think that brings you in to the menu… that or there is a function button.

now that i think about it, i dont think it was labled aux in or out. i just remember seeing aux. but ill try to keep playing with the unit before i pull it apart again.

thanks for the input guys.

what model is it?

model is CDE-9843. the back doesnt say AUX like i thought, it says SW/F…idk what that means?

it says its a pre-out…still dont know what it means.

spend $75 and get a new deck

its an output for an amplifier…not an auxilary input. you need a new head unit if you want an auxilary input.
