no its really 5 minutes to get the screen off and replaced… I’ve torn apart every laptop you can think of… and they all have been made the same way…
Dell being ridiculously easy. and toshiba being a bitch that you have to be careful with it.
Yea? It took me about 30 mins to swap a display on some 17" sony thing.
What about a MBP?
actually I’ve never fucked with a macbook of any kind… everyone seems to buy the warranty… so I won’t touch them with a warranty on them… more of a courtesy on my part…
dan, i want to time you fixing one. I dont beleive you can do it in 5 minutes flat.
I’ve done a couple Dell’s before and they took about 30 minutes total.
Should be an easy fix if you can find one.
May want to post what type of laptop it is Dawn and therefore people can get you an estimate on costs.
dawn you’re fucked.
but for other reasons
Well it’s a Gateway. There’s 2 model #'s. Ha. It says MA7 and MT6708

Some laptops do take more than 5 minutes to pull apart. And judging by your responses, I have probably pulled apart more types of laptops than you.
Dawn, just plug it into a monitor and use it as a desktop computer. Don’t waste any money on a Gateway.
I’ve done my fair share of laptops and if you can do a screen in 5 minutes you’re truly gifted.
would you like to be? =P
We don’t talk like that here in the huge nerd corner. Go take your sexual advances back to off topic where they belong.
yes sir, sorry sir, wont happen again sir. lol =D

other than being nice to the panel just above the keyboard… 5 minutes is pretty feasible… I wasn’t saying every laptop i could swap a screen out in ten min… I was saying its sure as hell faster than an hour job…
I doubt you have pulled more laptops apart than I have… I have a very destructive family and I’m their first contact when it comes to anything computer related…
Besides… by no means is it a difficult job… its like 10-15 screws max

+1
I just replaced the screen in my Inspiron 6000. Brand new ebay lcd for around $200, so $250 cheaper than the replacement Dell was going to sell me. When I got it I realized it was made by the same company that made the OEM screen. Big FU to dell ripping people off on replacement part costs.
I’m not getting into a pissing match about computer repair. I will say this though - I do all my repairs without breaking anything.
so… 2 years later. i finally got around to looking up screens. i can get a brand new replacement screen for like $99.
who wants to fix it for me?
That depends - spit or swallow?
that depends - bite it off or cut it off?
Well, no cash, no head, no fix.
