AMD's 1991 Audi 200 Project

Awesome! I actually have started a Golf R Facebook group if you’re interested in joining let me know. Any mods to your R yet?

The 20v’s are awesome even in stock form. My Avant is stock and is a blast.

Thanks man! Can’t wait to see how it runs this season. Should be a handful.

5 cylinder FTW  Thank you sir!

2bennett had a built avant at the Glen one time, talk about a sleeper! Weren’t there only like 20 avants in the US?

2B makes some rare and awesome products for these old cars. It’s too bad they’re priced a bit high (coming from someone who has no problem spending a ton of money). There were ~150 1991 200 20v Avants and ~800 1991 200 20v sedans imported into the US. I am lucky to have one of each

I should probably update with lots of pics as the beginning of this thread is outdated:

With my beast of a dog (his name is Quattro  )

That’s enough for now, lol.

any future plans for it like even more power?

Of course. Coming out this season it will be a whole new animal which should terrify many. I don’t like to speculate but it should be making an effortless 700awhp. Some highlights of the build:

Forged JE FSR 9.5:1 82mm (+1mm) pistons
Forged I-Beam rods
New OEM bearings (rod/main)
All machine work/assembly done by the legendary Four Ring Performance Engineering (http://fourringperformance.com/)
Supertech +.5 valves all around
Supertech springs/retainers
Lighweight lifters
CatCams 1002305’s
FRP Stage 2.5 Head porting (made HUGE improvement)
Forced Performance Super 94 HTA Turbo
Wagner Engineering SQ Cast exhaust manifold
Tilton cerametallic twin disk
034 Billet steel flywheel
Dual in tank Walbro 450’s
2000cc injectors
E85 fuel

Probably more I’m leaving out but here’s some pics:

Nick im assuming you’ll be running the 2nd pump off a hobbs switch right

A little more advanced but the same principle. I will have my EMS trigger it at a certain boost/rpm (values are undetermined at this point).

wow… that should wake it up a bit…

Man, when I first saw this thread I though, “why would anyone put this kind of time into that car”.

I take it all back. Clearly I did not realize what the end result was going to be. The finished product is amazing.

This car is so damn awesome!!!

How did I miss this? Awesome!

I certainly hope so  Can’t wait to start tuning it!

That is quite a normal reaction really. The 200 was kind of a neglected model and not many saw its potential though it had arguably one of Audi’s best engines of all time (the 20v Turbo I5). That and it was WAY out of normal peoples price range when new. This was a $46,000 car in late 1990. I love the old huge boat and luckily it’s lighter than it looks at 3510lbs with half a tank (~11gals).

Thanks guys!

$46K in 1990 is like $80K todays money thats crazy.

That also means in todays money my B3 would cost $58K. Jesus.

217hp in 1991 is like 517hp todays hp that’s crazy. The eighties and nineties really sucked… unless you had an Audi 20v turbo.

I love old audis. I just don’t have the patience to own another old vw.

That launch vid is awesome! Car squats hard and sounds mean!

God damn

Probably my favorite build on here currently
