Haha, that’s pretty raw.
ZR1 share the cobalt ss/tc steering wheel I think? maybe I can’t remember. I love the g8 GXP I wish I could teleport one to myself when I am forty
stupid question, whats DOD?
Displacement on Demand… gas economy shit. shuts off 4 cylinders (maybe only 2, i dunno) when there is a low load on the engine to save gas.
cadillac did this in '83 but it sucked old man balls
its the chevy v-tec (actually, GM has some VVT plaforms)
i think when my motor goes kaput, im going to have a certain mad scientist cook me up one of these
Looks sweet but im guessing $80,000 or so if they where to build it am i right LOL??
thats what i thought, and i remember reading about cadillac playing with this in the early 80’s.
A lot of new Dodges have DOD. The magnum R/T is pretty okay on the thruway after like 60mph. The transition is pretty seamless.
But that doesn’t help when in the city, still gets shitty shitty gas mileage.
High hp + city driving = shitty gas mileage, no technology can change it enough to make it untrue.
i doubt anyone buys a 454 anything for MPG
Maybe. But with that statement are you saying the G8 isn’t aimed at the upper middle class? Fuel economy is a pretty big factor to people buying a car for anything under $80,000 I’d think.
Thats why there is a G6.
The gas mileage isnt that bad for a G8 GXP considering what you get out of the car. If you can afford to drive a truck im sure you can afford to drive a G8 GXP. If you can afford 39k for a G8 you shouldnt be worried about the miles per gallon it gets anyways.
There is a 454cid version of an LS?!
I, for one, welcome our new overlord with open arms
:eekdance:
All hail.
I love it, except for the fact that it looks like it has a snowplow trying to hide in the lower grill.
You guys and your “no one wants to buy the G8 because of MPG” are pretty funny.
Honda Accord V6 = 19/29 city/highway for an average of 24 mpg.
G8 GT V8 = 15/24 city/highway for an average of 19.5
@$4/gal for the average of 12k/year that’s a whole $461/year extra to drive the G8. And that’s assuming gas gets back up to $4 a gallon any time soon, which I don’t see happening for at least a year, probably 2.
The typical G8 buying isn’t cross shopping econoboxes, so they already aren’t expecting prius level mileage. The G8 isn’t selling well because GM is doing a horrible job marketing it. I’m a car nut and Pontiac guy and even I didn’t know the GXP was out until about a week ago.
The tall-deck version of the iron LSX block (not LSx) is capable of just over 500 CID…
And it’s too bad that like the Mitsu Evo X, it looks like GM is ramping down production on these significantly.
I want a tall deck LSx…
Car is sexy!
If I ever get away from my //M3 it will be between this car and a M5.
I love it, except for the feces wheels. And the G8 is the victim of Pontiac stigma and lack of marketing. If they called it an Accord and it had the marketing of a comparable import, it would be flying off the lots.
Remember the huge ad blitz they had for the Saturn Aura? They were even putting the Camry and Accord on the Saturn lot so people could drive them back to back. Unfortunately the Aura was kind of a turd when compared to the Accord.
But I’d put the G8 up against any similarly priced mid size to large sedans.
Yeah, I thought they were on the right track and that they learned from their mistakes, because the pre-production ads for the G8 had potential. But now the only place i see it marketed is in EA sports video games.
That is pretty sweet.
X…
