They are nice cars… Thinking about buying one. I planned on buying a GT model, thinking that the 6-liter in the car was an LS2. I just found out that it is actually an L76, which now makes this car much harder to modify. My next option would be spending another $10k to get the GXP model, which comes with a 6.2 liter LSx engine… Still considering the GT, as I don’t plan on making it a race car. I have already found kooks longtubes and full exhaust for the GT, along with a bunch of BMR chassis/suspension mods. I honestly dont think I’d go much further with it, but if I wanted to, I’d have to LSx swap the car down the road… any input?
Those cars are still pretty pricey for what they are imo, but thats b/c of the limited amount of them. Cool cars though!
i think you just need a zr1
Wat
although they are very nice big motor economy cars, when it comes to going fast I wouldnt consider one. They are nearly 4000lbs and this is a big problem.
if your looking for a LSx thats light with good mod/power potential stay in the F-body/C5/C6 area.
They’re basically 4-door 5th gen camaro’s. Same platform. I think an intake, full exhaust, suspension, and wheels is all I’d do… Can’t seem to find anything else for it.
I just said I’m not looking for a race car, and the GT model I’m looking at isn’t an LSx. I’d have to drop $35k on a GXP for the 6.2
The GT goes 13.5 stock, not bad IMO, especially since the GXP goes 13.0.
thats alot of money to get a car that runs low 13’s in 2010. Car standards as far as performance right now are ridiculous. I mean the LS3 C6’s run mid 12’s stock and your looking at the same price range.
they are pretty sick cars…im not saying they arent at all. Its just alot of money for something you can get to perform the same half price of that.
see I am biased against the 5th gen. I hate em.
I would take a G8/GTO over a 5th gen anyday.
Buy a ford, be happy.
SHO ftw
SHO= new era army tank
L76 is lsx based… its a gen 4 motor. Mods are the same.
Not going to lie, I think the G8 is one of the sickest looking cars GM puts out.
And the L76/L98/L99/LS3/LS9 all use the same head design…
this thread hurts my head.
jim buy one.
They have substantial valvetrain differences. Can’t cam it without getting a custom grind. They also have cylinder shutdown for highway mpgs
A tune will get rid of the displacement on demand and LS3 or L92 heads will allow it to run any LSx cam.
yep. L76 intake + L92 heads = good mod on an LS2
That’s my point. Have to do a top end just to cam it…
makes things so much more fun.
