I recognize the hurdles and would have to think long and hard to come up with a system. Obviously elimination of bad teachers, and merit pay increases for good teachers, would have to involve a system of controls to eliminate the effects of limitations of the students. Part of a teacher’s job, though, is to inspire the students to learn - if none of the teachers are able to do that with students, then they are either all failures, or none are failures. However, if the student body at a particular school is showing great improvement and interest in math, science, history and art, but not in english, the english teacher merits review to see if there’s a problem there.

I don’t disagree with everything that Olbermann says (quite the contrary, I agree with a lot of things he says). I can admit that he’s a tool (and certainly admit that he’s a poor source for unbiased news) and still wholeheartedly agree with many of the positions he takes.
^Would you consider him a news source? I think a lot of us confuse entertainers and commentators with journalists. Beck, Olbermann, Limbaugh, John Stewart, Colbert… Not journalists.
In no way. He’s a political commentator. I happen to think that he’s done some great pieces, and I’ve forwarded clips (like his appeal on Prop. 8) all over the place. I think they were reasonable, and worthy of consideration.
But almost nothing on MSNBC (or Fox News) is news. Olbermann included.
