Any Amherst (Snyder/Eggertsville) residents having sewer issues today?

The hole in the center of my garage was filled, there is no proper drainage there though, also by the front garage door where there is a low point there is a little water pooling, due to previous owner(s) putting rock there and now it pitches towards the garage. Just one thing on my list of need to fix sometime.

I don’t know anyone but myself in this area who has one … i had a company come do it

I hear ya, I should have done mine sooner, but I kept putting it off. I drilled 1/2" holes and will put some cotton balls in there to act as a filter for now so that it doesn’t get plugged up right away. It was either this or buy a commercial roofing rubber piece, lay it down and put 2x4’s around the outer edge to collect the water so I can push it out with a squeegee.

Smart move bdr

Check valve at the curb wouldn’t help with the basement drain issue. If the drain tile empties into the drain, and the check valve is closed do to increased pressure in the main, all the water from the drain tile is just going to back up into the basement.

yeah but my drain tile empties to my sump pump … which dump to my front lawn … my check valve is in place as a safety just in cast the storm sewers backed up into the main sewer (which was common around here)(this was a huge issue during the oct storm … but never an issue at my house) … plus all houses in the town have to have a sump pump and cannot dump into the storm sewer only to a bubbler or to the lawn

Right, just saying that doesn’t really help in the OP’s case, since he has a drain. I have the same drain setup in my house(plus a check valve). This is the first time I’ve ever had water in my basement in the 10 years we’ve lived there.

Getzville here. No issues. My sump pump is a beast. knock on wood

When it comes time for me to finally replace my old clay sewer main my intent is to have a check valve and a sump installed and remove the natural drain.
