They have camber plates and are adjustable (although the adjusters on the front are on the bottom of the body not the top), and no helper springs.
Any idea what they are? They were pulled off a JDM car in japan from what i’ve been told.
No idea… but those collars should be above the shock mount. I’d change that if I were you 
previous owner must have done that intentionally for maximum slamzzz

It doesn’t matter. If the spindle mount is slammed up against the spring, rocking the collars on the bottom is a good alternative to it loosening off.
They look like a quality unit though. As long as they aren’t leaking… put them on and scrape.
I dont want to go too low. I picked these up since my stock struts were all blown, and at the moment I’m running stock arms all around. So to not ride super low, i just put the red collar up above the mount and im good?
