Any licensed electricians on here?

For the compressor you can get a regular style switch that can handle 30a at 220v.

Well I feel like I’m going to change my plan and return the subpanel. I’m going to pull the wire that is in the kitchen for an electric stove, pull it and run it as far into the garage as I can(you go out the kitchen to enter the garage, so they’re on the same wall). So once I run the wire thats already in place, ill use a junction box and run it to where I want the compressor.

then maybe I will move some lighting or outlets around but other than that I should be good to go. My garage already has the lighting and some outlets.

hows that sound for a plan?

Ill probably try to run a switch to be able to turn off the compressor if I need to, or a disconnect.

Take the 6-3 romex back and buy the ser cable like Mike said. I’d do it that way with the sub panel. You can use the breaker in the panel as your disconnecting means. That way if you ever want to add anything else out there, it’ll be a cakewalk.
