I know there is a windows 7 thread, but my situation does not really apply to that one…
About a month ago, I got rid of my p4 desktop, and decided to upgrade.
I picked up a dell optiplex 360 for around $450.
It has a dual core intel e5200, 2gb ram, onboard video, and vista home basic. A sata 160gig hard drive and a 22 inch widescreen monitor.
I upgraded the thing to 4gb of ram (had to throw out the 2x1gb that they stuck in there from the factory), and replaced the onboard video with a pci express asus card (somewhat low end, I just wanted HDMI out however)…
This thing still runs vista pretty much like shit. Its barely faster than my p4 was running xp.
Have you guys noticed a big improvement with windows 7? I have the iso sitting on the desktop, but I haven’t made the plunge. I just got all my apps and files migrated over from the old windows xp box, and it was a huge pain in the ass to get everything tweaked and up and running.
Do you guys know if you will need to reinstall windows when the release comes out, or will the RC1 version just be upgradable to the full version?
