Any rock climbers on here?

I have taken up rock climbing and bouldering (indoor) over the last 5 - 6 months. I’m at the Schenectady Electric City Rock Gym about 1 - 2 times a week.
Anyone else on here do any climbing?

I’ve been to Electric City once recently with Jason (Code Blue), and had a blast.

Great environment good people and a lot of fun.

Planning on going there more often as time permits, Sundays are looking to be a good day for me to make a regular trip there.

Jason is a regular there.

yea I went there like 4 times a week until I got injured. Andy is cool as anything out there. taught me alot. I’d be down to climb with ya ! any day except for Wednesday is good

A bunch of my friends from SUNY IT and I are going to AIR on the 22nd

Hey man I was just talking to Tracey about this. I am really wanting to try this now that my knee is up to it.

Wow, that’s awesome! We should organize a shift climbing day.
I usually go on Tuesday and Thursday right after work, but a weekend would be cool too. Anyone know how busy weekends usually are? I figured it would suck because of b-days parties and stuff.
AIR is ok for bouldering, but I’m not a fan of the climbing because the walls are too low.

The dude at work i was going to go with says weekends are cool. It doesn’t get real real busy like AIR, so he only goes there now. He also says AIR smells like feet all the time. lol I’m down for w/e. I can meet you there some weeknight if you want, not this thurs though cuz i gotta go see Thorogood @ the egg. I think next tues i can prolly do though. :thumbup

LOL! AIR smells like a giant sweaty foot for sure. I think part of that is because of their indoor caving system and all the sweaty, dirty children and hippies that are in them. I tried going in the caves, freaked out, and and had to get outta there.
Good to know about the weekends. I might go on a weekend one of these days if I"m bored.
I’ll most likely be there next Thursday after work too, so maybe I’ll see you and some others from the forum too.

http://www.metoliusclimbing.com/pdf/How-to-Build-a-Home-Bouldering-Wall.pdf - Detailed bouldering wall DYI. I would love to build one of these some day.

I mountain bike up in saratoga and on the plot of land my clubs trails are on people often boulder. Theres a good amount of glacial erratics just hangin out all over the place up there. Some of those guys are pretty impressive thats for sure.

I’ve always wanted to pick up indoor rock climbing. Do they offer an intro course? A great and non boring way to build body strength with almost no impact on joints.

Def an awesome workout. They teach you belay basics and that’s about it. People around you will give you pointers and stuff.
I’d like to take some classes to learn more, but not sure who offers them. I’m sure they have them, but never looked into it.

not going to be an ass, but you can litterally stand up and grab the ones on the ceiling… IMO, its not high enough for me to even bother with.

Props to him tho!

that looks like a fun little bouldering room !

its more bouldering oriented. meaning you start with all 4 limbs on a hold, and your ass on the ground and start from there

you may know my friend who built that wall I posted pictures of. He used to be up there all the time. Does the name Dean ring any bells?

Is Electric City still where Center City used to be/is? I’m really close and used to go to Albany Indoor Rock gym a lot.
