Going to Ann Arbor on Saturday for the Michigan vs. Minnesota game.
Anyone been to a game up there yet? I’ve been to the stadium but it was between games, but the sheer thought of it filled with 100,000+ fans made me wanna goto a game.
Anyone who has gone up there, anywhere good to go to get drinks afterwards? Any hotels you crashed at?
my sis has been there a few times… i’m sure everywhere up there is cool to drink at since its pretty much a college town. i drove through just to see it before but have yet to see a game there.
I have been there twice… I believe it is the worst Venue to watch a college game that I have been to. the crown isn’t loud, you have 11 inches to sit your ass on and the guy sitting in front of you may as well hold your balls. or else you can just set them on his back. There was 111,xxx people in the stadium both times I went. If you want a good, rowdy, loud crowd, go to Beaver Stadium in State college. Although the Michigan fans were pretty cool people.
im going to have to agree with that. the pregaming outside of the stadium, the rowdy drunken fans during the game then continuing to celebrate a win until you pass out is what i love about college football. its too bad that the closest thing we have to that is WVU and PSU because PITT’s fan base sucks anymore.
Ive never been to Ann Arbor but i think Michigan is always over rated anyway. Im a huge duck’s fan so I would like to see a game at autzen stadium sometime.
Lucky bastard! im a huge Mich fan, and i have only been able to go to a mich vs mich st hockey game in Detroit, I would love to go to the Big house and see them play anyone
i’m tellin u, if they put beer in heinz field pitt would sell out… pittsburgh is in love with beer, not football. as it is I’m kinda glad pitt doesnt get more fans… i couldnt stand anymore people in there that know nothing about football. pitt is in such a tough spot… all the schools mentioned are college towns… while the university does dominate oakland… pittsburgh is far from what those places are in terms of a college town… then you take the football stadium off campus? pitt, no matter how good they get will never consistantly sell out heinz.
there are a lot of schools in which tailgating is banned, ND being one… but the experience is still second to none. pretty soon tailgating in pittsburgh (steelers and pitt) will be a thing of the past as the constuction on the north side continues.
I lived in Ann Arbor for 26 years… It’s going to be insane. way too many people. there are no drinks at the game as i’m sure you know with college stadiums. go into downtown on main street all the bars are good. I’m a fan of Leopold Bros. they make their own beer and liqour. as far as hotels… there are a bunch in the area, but they get expensive for home games. Tailgating in the Highschool parking lot across the street is popular. good luck parking also. most places want 20-40 per car. find the Kroger grocery store at S.Industrial and Stadium street, turn south onto S.Industrial and park a little ways down on one of the side streets for free and it’s only a 5 minute walk to the stadium. Go to Meijer grocery store for beer and food needs. what else do you want to know…? PM or call if you need more info on stuff 734.260.4230
Then go see them… People that just talk about doing things or wanting to do things but never do, Just go do it…
Wisconsin is a great place to see a game, and so is Tennessee. Georgia and clemson and all of the SEC teams all dress up in the stands, USC (South Carolina) - Clemson was nuts… the girls are all in cocktail dresses and the guys in suits. very different traditions down in the SEC.
It’s a shame that some people think a steeler game is the best thing, it probably is in the pros, but it doesn’t compare to a tailgate and game at most big college football campuses. Minus Pitt. Pitt has to bring in big time schools to seel Heinz field out. Bring PSU in and we will sell it out.
i am planning on it… starting next season… its hard to plan that stuff with my pitt season ticket (next season is gonna be stacked) the end of the pirates season since i work here. i want to try and do two next year… maybe michigan and tennessee.
i’m sure pitt would be glad to host PSU if PSU would stop being full of themselves… to them its a money thing… they forget that college football is supposed to be about pride.
the whole college atmosphere is what makes it… when i went to ND the whole weekend was a party, not just sunday afternoon. the band, the traditions, the cheerleaders… i like the whole “who should be #1” thing… it gives you something to talk/ argue about… the NFL is cut and dry.
