I have a side Job opertunity for someone who is a web developer.
whitey you might be interested???
If anyone is skilled to get a website up & running let me know.
a friend of mine is working in Mexico @ a vaction/tourist spot & the place he works is interested in setting up a website, to draw in more business
they give tours on horseback, etc…
they want an estimate on the cost of getting a site up & running.
I only know the basics so this is over my head, plus i don’t know much about getting a host, etc…
from what i’ve been told there will be a initial startup payment (include that in the fee charge to get the site up & running) & then a percentage of business generated by this site will be also paid to developer.
if anyone is interested, let me know.
they want me to get back to them soon.
Some info though: someone free-lance (like myself of whitey) would charge considerably less than a professional.
What kind of a time-frame is he looking for? I can throw a semi-decent site together in a matter of hours. (see www.newdawncustoms.com which was complete in about 1 day with minor bugs).
Does he want the developer to provide the hosting also and incorporate that into the cost? (this is usually a good idea as developers have more of an idea of what they need to run the site than what the purchaser needs)
How advanced? Do they want to know who clicks what and how many times each link is clicked, etc.?
to be honest i think they just want it pretty basic to start.
with pics, info on tours, pricing, etc.
I told my friend to get a digital camera & send the pics they want posted & the info on the place to fill up the site will…types or trips/tours, pricing, etc…
Also put some email form on there so people can send questions/coments right from the site etc…
that seems to work better then a hyperlink to an email address.
also how to get keywords into google, yahoo search etc…so they get some traffic.
i’m heading out to play ball, so i’ll be back on tomorrow & we can talk more then
He could probably get away with minimal (for now) since traffic won’t sky-rocket immediately.
www.ipower.com has packages at $7.95 a month, but they are retards when it comes to tech-support. www.lunarpages.com has good prices, as does www.netsender.com, and I’ve never heard a thing bad about them.
Add $8.95/year (at the most) for a domain.
if you can get a response to the following questions, I’ll throw you a price:
What kind of time-frame does he need this by? Tomorrow? Next week? Within a month?
Is he paying for the hosting? He chooses, or developers choice? Or is it developers choice & pay?
How advanced? Do they want to know who clicks what and how many times each link is clicked, etc.? Rotating banner ads? Or just simple & basic “This is what we do” type site? (Feedback forms are easy, I wouldn’t say that’s “advanced”)
Does he want a “Content Management System” where he can go in and change stuff with a few clicks? HTML is pretty easy to follow, just replace what text is there with what text you want, CMS would be harder to write.
I can give 3 good examples of stuff I’ve done recently, and the time-frame, with level of advancement (super-easy, semi-advanced, and advanced).
well i could host it, and i could write the code… to get a price estimate I would need to know exactly what he wants. does he need to be able to update it? does he want me to update it? does he need graphics designed?
