Maybe what my post was vague, but you took it a little off of what the point was… had nothing to do with how hard someone worked labor wise and im pretty sure you know thats not what it meant
While yes, I feel as though someone making 10 million could probably spare a million a year thats not the point…
Point is, if someone has money, whether they worked hard and made all the right moves, caught an easy break and made bank, inherited it, won it in a lawsuite whatever they earned that money, whether they worked their ass off for it, or got lucky… unfortunately some people catch breaks, we get jealous when we see it happen to other people, but most of us in reality would probably feel the same way if we were the ones with the big incomes getting ~20%+ getting taken from us yearly…
It is not any of ours or the governments business to determine how much we can spare and assume it wont affect are quality of living. Yes thats stretching it a bit, but say someone makes over a million a year, around 1.5 there getting a little over 300K a year taken away from them in taxes… thats quite a bit, now I doubt they would be financially hurting if it went up another few percent, but how are we to know? Maybe it will put a little bit of strain on the way they are used to living, a privilege they earned no matter how they came about the money.
Lets say you work someplace, you make 500 a week, everyone else only makes 300… If I started taking ~100 bucks a week out of your paycheck because you can afford it how would you feel? You’d probably be pretty pissed if someone started taking money the thought you could do without without ever knowing how it would affect your quality of living that you earned.
If your making 10 million a year and living that millionare lifestyle, a couple million a year comming out of you in taxes coudl be that “blanket” money if you will…
No one needs a million dollar house, no one needs a garage full of ferarris, no one needs a lot of shit, but if they have the money and they did what they had to for it, they have every right to enjoy that lifestyle and want to keep it without missing a beat.
