Just curious if anyone on here is a tow truck driver and or knows about the business?
I thought you needed a special license but recently searched and found that if the total weight of your vehicle and vehicle your towing is less then 26k pounds you dont need any special license?
Also, is it hard to get repo accounts and what kinda money do they make?

I’m pretty sure you need a license for any sort of tow, legally.
Flat towing isn’t legal and flat bed trailer towing for profit isn’t legal either.

You don’t need a license. You need an endorsement. And good luck getting in with a bank to do repos.it also depends on if the vehicle you’re driving has air brakes. For a wreker you do need a class A with a W endorsement though.
To tow a car on a bed or hook u need to have a tow endorsment . I have had mine for a few yrs now , its a easy test .
How about a flatbed? Do you need anything special for a flatbed?
Flat bed tow truck you need an endorsement for. Only need a class D license though.
If it has air ya need a c.d.l depending on weight of flatbed
Yes like I said in previous post. You then would need a class B with the towing endorsement

Like if your doing this in your private life for your own self you don’t need the endorsement?
I would have thought you needed a CDL if you were doing anything for profit with a motor vehicle, don’t you need one to drive a cab?

No , u can have a bed with air and still run a endorsment . It goes by loaded weight or truck weight .

Yup it goes by weight, you take the tow test they will call me to put a waiver on your recordd and they will give you a class N (non-cdl c) license. And the truck can have air as long as its under 26K lbs. No DOT med cert or anything like that is needed.

My retarded redneck cousin does repo apparently. I always see him talking about repoing peoples cars on facebook and the conpany name changes at least once a week. First it was final notice 518, then it was white boy recovery, and then it was some other gay shit. I can ask him what he has required and all but im sure it’ll be 100 lies.
