Anyone good with honda/acura's?

hey guys im just wondering if anyone can give me advice on what i should be looking over on a 94 integra gsr… im thinking of purchasing this car for the winter since i dont want to drive my 240. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Yeah, make sure it doesn’t burn oil when it hit vtec. Almost every gsr I see does burn oil at vtec, those engines are notorious for that.

Pretty much every honda will burn oil in vtec… Its not really a issue as long as you check your oil every other tank of gas. Things I would look for. Check the front mount of the seat rails and bolts on the firewall for rust. If they are rusting its a good chance the car comes from out east. Another thing to check is the side rails of the sun roof when open.

Get a compression and leak down test done on the car for sure.

The GSR is a great choice, lots of great daily driver options, good power, great on gas if you don’t plant your foot to often. If the car has been lowered and has a aftermarket rear sway bar check the mounting points for cracking. They are well built cars with very few problems. I actually run GSR engines in my race car, if your looking to boost it later IMO its the best engine out there honda wise.

my last car was a GSR and I agree with what’s allready mentioned: obviously check for rust as all hondas will disapear when the rust starts, so make sure it hasn’t started yet! and check the engine, compression ect… make sure it doesn’t burn excessive oil, even when your in V-tec it shouldn’t be obviouse that it’s burning, no clouds!
and check the suspension. they have more agressive tuning on the suspension that wears out quicker on our rough roads, and depending on KM’s will require ball joints and bushings ect… also, when you get close to the 200,000KM area you will need axles and clutch if they haven’t been done yet within the next while. and make sure it’s had the timing belt changed at least every 100,000KM’s.

My first performance car I built was a GSR B18 for turbo in my EG6. Very good engines and very cheap to fix. Napa always has parts for them in stock. Fun cars aslong as you dont plan on making it go fast. They take lots of wrk to keep up to a Skyline.

On a side note I have a XSi Integra from Japan that comes with the B16A 5 speed factory. Also has all the electrical goodies that no DA6’s get in Canada if your interested. Shoot me a PM or call me for more info. It will be a great all round driver even for winter.

It doesn’t take much work to keep up to a skyline. With a full race stage 4 turbo kit, on a stock engine you can run 10s in a eg hatch.

Im selling my car,if a 10 second Honda is as simple as you say.

but how many times could u run 10’s before stuff starts to break !

thanks for all the feedback guys , I really appreciate it !

Likley 4 or 5  But are you really looking to go fast or are you just looking for a good winter car.

lol oh yeah im just lookin for a good reliable winter car… i have my s13 for power… im goin to check it out today… but thanks for your input, it should help out alot!

a GSR is kinda expensive for a winter beater isnt it?

well i dont wana get a winter “beater”… cuz then i’l just end up spending just as much money fixing the pos than i would of just buying something half ways nice n reliable in the first place!

get a mazda 323! i had one of those, i beat on it daily, shifting 500 rpm past redline for almost every shift

it lasted me a long time, and eventually burnt a few valve seals and blew a valve cover gasket, but nothing major!

yeahh i dont have ur kinda luck with bagging vehicles n getting away with it … but i get what ya mean though !

HAHAHAHA its true BeatShack Has the best luck with cars
