I figure just like you and drive your site up the google ranks, there has to be a way to drive it back down. Assuming having content removed and re-indexed isn’t possible, how can you try and drive down negative search results?

Its pretty much reverse SEO. You wont be able to remove yourself since most firms and sites now are just data mining sites but the best you can do is remove anything you have access to with your name that’s google crawl accessible such as forum signatures, facebook, twitter, etc. The bigger sites have higher rankings so info on there show up higher so start there and work your way to the smaller ones. This should at least push your name down a bit and have other people with the same name move up.
