im trying to understand a cheap fix of a hole in the exhaust pipe. ive been told you can get these “ceramic towels” and wet them in water and wrap around the pipe and cover up the hole. is this something that sound right or is someone pulling a fast one on me. what are they called and if they are real are they reliable and can last me till winter?
How big is this hole? can you put a large bolt in it and weld it up?
if you want to be ghetto, which it sounds like you are, you can just use a piece of coffee can and two or three hose clamps…
or spend $25 on a band clamp
the hole is longer in shape than a “normal hole”. im just sick of sucking exhaust fumes and looking for the easy/cheap way out.
Umm… header wrap and tons of clamps? $5 max…
throw a muffler bearing on it and call it a day, this will be your cheapest and longest lasting repair possible.
PEP boys has them on sale this week, $2.99
They have muffler/exhaust pipe repair kits at autozone and such…they work ok…I threw one on my beater Saturn and it held up for 6-7 months.
is it on a straight part or bend?
