I’ve owned more gm v6’s then I can count on my hands and feet and none of them ever blew up on me… Ive seen em go for well over 200k and still pound the streets… But besides that Is anyone buying this engine Id like to get it off my truck…

Unique rods: these forged versions are unique to the 1989-90 Turbo Grand Prix and 1990 Turbo STE only. Stock 3.1L rod part number is 10078995/12515767, “turbo” 3.1L rod part number is 10070113

Unique construction: C-1037 heat treated steel forging, with SAE 1050 air quenched rod caps
Weight full assembled: 1.33 lbs
Length Center Line to Center Line: 5.70”
Small end size: .905”
Big end size: 2.474”
Racing Specs per Chevy Power manual: 7,000 rpms possible

Unique crank, started as a heavy duty casting number 981 as seen in the all-wheel drive Chevy Astro, but this one is unique to the 1989-1990 Turbo Grand Prix and Turbo STE, being worked on after starting as a 981 crank! Proof; stock 981 crank part number is 10146900, “turbo” 981 crank part number is 10110549.

Material: nodular cast iron
Unique machining: Journals chamfered, with deep rolled fillets that provide residual compressive stresses for added durability
Unique Treating: Ion Nitrided with a hardened depth of .02"-.03" raising surface hardness from 30-35 Rockwell C to 60 Rockwell C.
Weight: 39.5 lbs
Unique Crank dampener, stock 3.1L part #: 14091896, turbo dampener: 10131060

Oil Pump, unique to the 1989-90 Turbo Grand Prix and 1990 Turbo STE. Higher volume, cast iron body verses commonly used aluminum versions.

couple things wrong with this guy first no gm came wit forged rods from the factory,astro vans are a 4.3 liter v6 not a 3.1 lt diff crank and obviously diff numbers,all g/m oil pump,s besides lsx motors are cast iron not alum :crackup …now think about things g/ doesent even put forged rods in the vette or f/body,s why would they do it to a half assed forced inducted 3.1 :ponder but think what ya want your intake should also say turbo on it if it was a beefier 3.1 like ya say and it doesent so :stfu and melt the boat anchor down because no one prolly drives a car that the motor would power anyways its a dinosaur …but ya wont keep thinkin ya got a rare gem on your hands and keep it in fact ill buy it so i can claim to have a rare motor ::slight_smile:

Well pretty much gm 3.1s are far from rare! and no 1 claimed it was a beefier 3.1! And if your not interested then take a hike! Im not looking for info regarding the motor.
