I have a 3.1 liter V6 with a Auto trans that I removed from a wrecked 93 Chevy Beretta… Ran Excellent had 107k on it when removed! Has all the sensors on it alternator, starter, ac compressor, Power steering pump its complete ready to bolt into any gm from 87-93 with the 3.1… I needed it out of my garage its on my truck and ready for you to pickup or off it goes to the bone yard! I can deliver if my gas is paid for! I will not dicker on the price it is $100 firm its well worth it…

had the 3.1 in my 91 granprix. engine blew. to the port of albany it went. got 225 for it.

Id rather see someone make a car breed new life rather than Have it melted down yanno… I work at the scrap yard in Cohoes I know what its worth in scrap! 3.1 Powered go cart sounds pretty cool… I just need the room in the garage! Its well worth it! It still has its wiring harness attached well if anyones interested its here until I decide to drive my truck to work…

and 127K on the second one. All orig til i got into a accident

3.1s dont blow up dude. if it overheats bad you’ll warp the aluminum heads and have blowby but thats with anything aluminum. the rods are forged and good luck snapping the crank NA. I have seen many 200k + running 15 psi regularly.

rods are not forged they are powdered metal weak oil pumps bad intake gaskets are very common but if ya keep them cool and change the oil and no intake leaks they are a good motor oh yeah and cranks arent all that stout ive busted 3 of them in my old z24 and bereta

oh woops i dont have a regular 3.1. Mine came with high volume pump, hardend crank and forged rods, thought the NA had the same rods but a little research proved me wrong. If you dont mind me asking, howd you break 3 cranks. boost?

um… . my first 3.1 in my grandpirx, had 132miles. driven by an old lady. i was at redwood with my friend stef. i left the parking lot at 5mph. and BOOM the crank blew the fuck apart. ASK, sean (91teg) steve (mcflurry) that shit blew the fuck up. Now my second motor, i bought from kazs junkyard( family friend) for 250. i replaced EVERY gasket. and new piston rings to be safe. 3 months later… i threw a rod.

people say 3.1 are bulletproof. welll. your wrong. im sry. im not just basing it on me. my grandma has a 93 corsica 27K ORIG miles, last year, she threw a rod.

only one 3.1 buddy they are a shitty motor nothin hardend nothin forged …broke three cranks from drivin normal no boost or spray ;D all of the 90 degree v6 are shitty grom gm thats why they are plentiful in junkyards

What is the difference between the turbo 3.1 and the NA 3.1?

  1. Only internal difference is the Crank. It is hardened, but still cast like the NA 3.1

  2. Deck height heigher to reduce compression ratio by .1 from 8.9 to 8.9(type-o on page)

  3. Bigger Injectors

  4. Upper intake (plenum) has hole for IAT, no hole for brake booster, and says “Turbo” on it

  5. Rear Manifold is different

no mention of different rods, or oil pump… only of the cranks… please post your sources.

My friends dad bought a '94 Corsica parts car with a 3.1 and drove it around the driveway at his shop a bit and we didnt notice until later that the car only had half an oil pan and no oil in it.
My dad’s '97 Cutlass Supreme has a 3.1 and it sounds like a diesel when he starts it but it runs ok with 84k. The intake gaskets went bad somewhere around 60k though.
