Anyone wanna play XBox??

Just thought this was an interesting picture… I mod xboxes for anyone who wants it done and have 3 sitting here waiting to be picked up so they’ve accumlated. The cool one is my personal one.

what kind of shit can you do to my ps2

I haven’t modded a PS2 since the first gen chips. Let me do some research tomorrow and see what kind of soldering is involved and what tricks they’ve developed. I’m familiar with the XBOX really. Games are easier to copy from when I was into the PS2 chips. I’d bet that hasn’t changed. I read a headline the other day about PS2 finally getting a hard drive capabilities. I didn’t read the details.

XBOX > PS2 anyways :shaggy:

ps2>xbox sorry

i still got 2 ps1 chips i never used i should have sold them long agao

ps2>xbox, (easiest controls out of any system) can you mod mine too?

ps2 > xbox may be true, but you can do so much more with a modded xbox than a ps2. I modded mine a few months ago and I love it

i was thinking of getting a second hard drive in my xbox to so i can burn the games so i dont have to use the disk…

let me know

like what? what can you do with a modded xbox? fill me in cuz i seriously dont know

you can copy games …plus games from over seas …burn games onto a hard drive

IM INTERESTED IN THE MODDED XBOX. i have one now un-modded can you use it as a core???what do i get on a modded xbox???

jesus christ… here goes what an xbox can do:

with a modded xbox of course you can play “backups” off of CD-RW (small games) or DVD-Rs. Some newer (Phillips) drives will also read CD-Rs. You can either play them off of the disc or copy to the hard drive. Off of the hard drive load times almost disappear. The majority of games are programed to load off of disc (optimised) so the HD just makes it go faster. Of course with the upgraded hard drive, you can squeeze more games directly onto the xbox. GAMES: Not just limited to xbox!! Right now there is an emulator for every other console except PS2. That means EVERY NES, SNES, GENESIS, NEO GEO, etc, etc, etc. May I add super Nintendo controller is setup very similar to xbox… so it’s fun. There are also a few ports from PC -> xbox. ROTT (for you old schoolers) and Quake are 2 I can think of off the top of my head. So that puts literally hundreds of thousands of video games on the machine without even having to swap a disc! (with a decent hard drive upgrade). There is also a service thats pretty stable now to replace Live! (YOU CANNOT USE LIVE WITH A MOD CHIP TURNED ON!!! YOUR XBOX MAY GETBANNED). The service routes through your PC as a proxy and connects you. It’s getting pretty advanced and even offers buddy lists and chat services now to get people together to play.

Ok, so I have about 125 xbox games and I never play them… here’s why: Xbox is also a multimedia center. Once modded it can play almost all types of media. Including avi, mpg, mov, wmv, mp3, ahhh hell… it runs windows media player on it. It can do just about anything. You can watch full length divx movies on it, DVDs (no need for the remote control thingy). With a network connection it will even stream shoutcast. And you can record it as mp3 :blue: . Since it also has a nice shiny ethernet port, it also can act as an FTP server. Actually, thats the primary way of getting files onto it. It can also serve as an HTTP server just for the hell of it. Not to mention it can get weather updates for you from around the world. You can have it setup to slide-show pictures too. It will cycle through a DIR of pics and display them on the screen. The movies and shoutcast ripping are what I primarily use mine for. Its fun to copy a few movies over and have everyone decide. Porn is also viewable from the xbox.

Last but not least is the fact that it can run other operating systems. It is an Intel based CPU with 95% PC arcitecture. It can run many builds of Linux along with most of it’s software. I personally have never bothered with this since I am not Linux friendly. A port of WindowsCE is also available for it but once again, I am just not interested in my XBOX crashing :jerkit: So I leave my XBOX operating system (refered to as a dashboard in the xbox scene) as XBOX Media Center.

I know I have left out some shit, it does alot. Basically since its a PC the limits are endless. Although it’s only a mobile 766 CPU with 64mb RAM.

s10… hook me up

shoot me a PM, i’m interested in buying a new xbox and reloading some shit…

btw i fix broken ps2’s… i have at least 3 at home as well…

If you want it done the chips are $30 + $4 shipping right now on sale from system-mods.com. I’ve orderd about 30 of them total in the last year. They have the best service and best prices. If you want it done I’d do it for $50 + chip. That includes all installation labor, configuring, programming of the chip, and uhmmm, “software”. If you get another hard drive I’ll format and install that too obviously. The stock hard drives are only 8 or 10 gb depending on when you bought it. After the the space it reserves for save games, swap files, and its origional OS files, you only get about 4- 6 gb for games. You can still burn discs though, but the xbox dvd-rom is specifically designed to NOT read copied discs as well as pressed ones. It’s MS’s antipiracy attempt. Although you can swap is with a PC DVD with some modifications to the drive. As for using it as a “core”… I’d have to mod your current one. I’d need it for about 3 - 5 days after I got the chip in the mail to do it. (I can actually get it done in about 6 hours, but I say that because I dont always have time to sit and do it for 6 hours straight). Also copying “software” can take longer than that… I have 120gb of software on mine… so copying that isn’t exactly a blink of an eye.

s10…i’ll let one of my friends know about this…he would definately be interested…he’s a video game junkie

how much for a ps2 that you have stacked around?

Looks like the current top-dog PS2 chips are about $60. 24 wires or so on small connections. Not a problem if anyone wants one modded.

I can;t find the info on the PS2 hard drive I was lookin for. Maybe it was a dream.

shitbox #2 has gone downt he drain. our hdd always “times out” whenever we try to start it up. we have another hdd but i dont know how to unlock it. can you do this and make it work on the shitbox that just went dead as well as put in a mod chip for me? how much are we lookin at?

ok, the HD thing is simple but requires the network adapter and the hard drive (duh). Seems that it will work without a chip even, but more than likely will only be able to backup real games. Of course you wouldnt need the game after you backed it up. Still doin my homework on this subject. Cant go wrong with a chip and the HD loader though.

To unlock an xbox hard drive you need the origional xbox it came with. It needs to use the serial number to unlock it. If you have the hard drive (another xbox hard drive or just a spare PC one???) I can swap it and mod it no problem. It’s $50 +actual cost of any hardware.
